I agree that's very interesting indeed! And that it's supposed to be rated at 95 W TDP makes it even more interesting. Assuming that is correct, the question is what those extra Watts will be spent on? As I wrote in my previous post, possibly it could be e.g. 6 CPU cores or they have really beefed up the iGPU perhaps with added eDRAM.

I mean if they just would have made a 4770K on 14 nm I guess it would be around 65 W TDP or so. So if they now have 30 W extra to play with it opens up some interesting opportunities.

Indeed. The combination of decreased power and increased density offered by 14nm opens up some interesting possibilities. Sure they could use the smaller process to simply shrink Haswell 4 core GT2 down to something around 85mm^2... but that small of a die actually starts to get a tad bit problematic in terms of I/O. Hence why it's pretty much a given that the iGPU will see another bump in resources, and maybe we actually will see an increase in core count after all. I was expecting to see such with Broadwell until the change in direction towards mobility... but who knows, maybe we have the new CEO to thank for desktop Broadwell making a reappearance? He definitely seems to be more concerned about having a product in place for every potential market.
