Hope you guys can help. I'm not a newbie so you can assume the basics of troubleshooting.
Goal: I want to have a wireless home network "secured" with WEP and MAC access
Can't use WPA-PSK because i need to connect a TIVO.
Without authentication, my laptop's Intel 2200BG wireless card connects find.
With 64 or 128-bit WEP, the TIVO can connect using a generic USB network adapter, but my laptop card can't.
Intel ProSet detects and connects to the network (get's good signal strength), but windows cannot acquire an IP address. (the same error occurs if the incorrect key is entered).
BTW, the car can authenticate using WPA-PSK, but then my TIVO can't connect.
Using WindowsXP SP2 on a Gateway 200ARC
I've tried using both Windows XP zero-config and Intel ProSet.
Are they any tricks or known issues regarding using WEP and the intel 2200BG card?
Thanks,
-josh
