It's also the question of which manufacturer would replace that volume. AMD aims mainly for premium and Qualcomm too.
Qualcomm would happily take the volume if they could get it, but they aren't cheap/good enough yet. AMD has products that can replace mobile Raptor Lake already without a software penalty, but they don't want to discount their wares to the point that OEMs are entirely ready to drop Raptor Lake entirely. Give it some time.

There's also the question of whether the market will continue to absorb Intel 7 products at the same rate.
I wonder why they don't shrink RPL-U dies to Intel 3 given how Intel 7 is quite expensive. Given that Intel tiled processors will remain expensive for the time being, a RPL Intel 3 would be cheaper to manufacture and allow them to increase efficiency (RPL biggest weakness).
There are a plenty of Phoenix 1 and Phoenix 2 dies floating around to replace Raptor Lake.
Does AMD even want to go for such low margins? Or do they even have the volume? Because Phoenix has been around since 2023 and availability is pretty poor. Specially for budget laptops.

If the banter in the foundry thread is to be believed, it's EUV availability. Intel 7 is their last DUV node that doesn't compete with Intel 3 or 18a for fab space or EUV equipment. Intel can't crap out discounted Raptor Lake on Intel 3 in the same volumes, definitely not without affecting future product lineups.

IMO every thing is riding on the 18A ramp. Panther lake needs volume in 2026.

Also Lunar Lake is non-existent but in 3 laptop OEMs in Australia. Acer, Lenovo and MSI.

Most of the Lunar laptops will come in Q1 2025 and this on a product which is all TSMC. See the problem and Lunar Lake was launched in September of 2024.

One important to keep note, “leadership” in ANY Intel product is no where to be found in 2025.

hopefully in 2026 they regain that title for some for their products.
