I want to know where i can buy this processor, for a good price. I have a BX motherboard and this is the highest processor I can put in mine. Any suggestions. I do not want a OEM model...I can either get the fanless or the one with the fan and heatsink.

If you go to Pricewatch, select Processors under CPUs & Motherboards and then select the PIII 600 (the one with NO letter designation), that should give you 2 pages of katmai-core slot 1 PIII 600s. Pg. 2 of the list had some vendors selling retail units.

I recently purchased two of these processors, and I wanted to make real sure that I was getting the right ones. Frequently vendor sites don't do a very good job of differentiating between katmai and coppermine processors.

Mentallo, which vendor did you use? It's hard to tell who is reputable with some of those vendors on Pricewatch!

I can't remember for sure ... I've used axiontech.com, tcwo.com and techstore.com most recently. If you go to resellerratings.com, you can look at what people think of virtually any vendor out there.

Also, check bizrate.com for possible special deals in using one of their approved vendors. Sometimes 5% off, or free shipping. I think Bizrate is another measure of a quality vendor.
