Here, I'll make a graph.

-
Frames per second (1 "x" = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 fps)

Intel:
AMD:

They both got the same number of 'x's!

I maybe wrong but this sure sounds like a voice out of the past. Any of you old timers here remember GUTB? Guy Under the Bridge who was such a troll it even caused the AOL IP ban and other problems here. Wonder if this is GUTB back from the grave?

I use Intel, AMD and Mac. They all have their uses.

I love it!

Reading this post was one of the funniest things I have read on these forums!

PeteRoy really has to be the dumbest most foolish poster I have seen on many forums.
And he just don't give up does he?

I don't post a lot, but I make sure that when I do...it's worth posting!

Oh well... looks like things are cooling down now, but MAN that was fun!

The mods should add a comment in the beginning of this thread explaning why this thread is open. It could be a lesson.

Well, with GUTB v2 in here, it's kind of a history lesson for new members of AT

Sorry, I don't know who GUTB is or what it stands for.

Dennis Travis mentioned him as well a few posts up, his nick was "Guy Under The Bridge", and we all know who dwells under the bridge, right
He was a fanatical Intel fanboy/troll who caused quite a bit of stir here, everything AMD did was bad, everything Intel did was good.
Admittedly, this fella ain't as bad as GUTB was, but they're in the same ballpark.

Eventually he got banned, since not only was he endlessly bashing AMD, I guess the real biggie was that he kept making stupid recommendations to people based on his fanatical views, which in turn could end up costing some not so knowledgeable newbies money needlessly.

After his banning, some other fella(may or may not have been GUTB actually) came along and started trolling and insulting the mods and admin(s?), which in the end is what caused AOL's entire IP range to be banned, due to their refusal to help AT deal with him.

IIRC he moved along to troll the Firing Squad forums after that.

Good times

Wow, so that's behind the story of the AOL Banishment. Thank you!

Starting this thread was bad judgment so it has now let you down. BTW, you come here, start a AMD vs Intel flame war, then behave like a petulant child when you get one. STOP POSTING.

Newsflash, I don't care what you think.

Newsflash, no one with a brain cares what you think. anyone who thinks a prescott is better than an A64 is smoking week old rotten bananas covered in dog sh!t.

.....actually I think my prescott is better than an A64........cause it was free!!!! wheee!!!!!

yes that is the ONLY reason they are better

well except maybe encoding or something but for all practical purposes...

sure looks like it to me.

OWNED.

BTW, sign up sheet to get rid of this joker is in forum issues.

But the Athlon XP is inferior to the Pentium 4 C and E...
You can be a fanboi for AMD all you want, calling the athlon XP superior to ANYTHING that came out this year is just silly.

i think there should be a amd and intel sub-forum below general hardware since clearly people are leaning heavily on one side versus the other....
it will probably help out the flaming thats been going in this thread and the threads that will be sure to come.

I notice that you make no mention of the P4 E.

If you don't think a mobile barton is clearly a better buy than a S478 Prescott, then call me a fanboi.

WHAT!?!?!? THere is no such things as a P4D!!

A- 400FSB adds L1 and L2 cache, and cache is now asynchronous
B- 533FSB
C-800FSB

(New Rev A)- Prescott core with 533FSB

E- Prescott core, 1mb L2 cache, 90nm manf
EE- Extreme Edition (Emergency Edition ), 2mb L3 cache

Also the Athlon XP was never meant to compete with the rev C's. It was only meant for the 1st rev A, and B. When they released the C's AMD got desperate because the A64 wasn't out and just bumped the FSB up to 200x2.

The Mobile Barton is a WAY better buy than the 478 prescott, even the northwood for that matter. Its debatable if it is a LGA775 (Socket T). The mobile barton is only better when OCed though. If you are getting something like phasechange dry ice liquid nitrogen, or in some cases even water both are good but prescotts are meant to be ramped to speeds greater than 4Ghz, so it depends on circumstances. Right now however i think the mobile Bartons are probably the best buys on the market.

Yea, the XP isn't quite as fast as P4C's or A64's, and the architecture has been used for a little bit, so in that sense it's inferior. But I still run 'em since the wallet doesn't think they're inferior
