Intel Application Accelerator problem please help!!

I have a Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard (has Intel 865PE/ICH5R chipset) and Intel Application Accelerator RAID editon (and non-raid) both refuse to install! It extracts, then a box comes up that says "Incompatible hardware. This software is not supported on this chipset. Please select 'Yes' to view the Readme file for a list of supported products. Refer to section 2 titled 'System Requirements'". So I click yes, and the readme comes up. Here is the system requirements section (with my hardware in parenthesis):

1. The system must contain the following Intel products:

* Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor (Yes, P4 2.6C)
* Intel(R) 82801ER I/O Controller Hub (Yes, checked with Intel Chipset ID software)

2. The kit software should be installed on systems with at
least the minimum system memory required by the
operating system. (I think 1GB of ram is enough)

3. Microsoft* Windows* XP Professional or Home Edition or
Microsoft* Windows* 2000 operating system. (XP Pro)

4. Installation of the Intel(R) Chipset Software
Installation Utility prior to loading the Intel(R)
Application Accelerator RAID Edition. (Yes I have that also)

I can't figure this out! I meet all the requirements, heck I even downloaded the software from my chipset's download page on Intel's site! If anyone has any ideas about what it could be, please let me know!

Hi,
The regular (non raid) version of IAA isnt supported on i865/i875 chipsets, only the newer raid edition.
To use the raid edition, you have to have a sata drive setup on you ICH5R.

So I need 2 sata drives to use IAA? I thought you just needed the RAID chipset? But I know I remember people running it without SATA drives (maybe IDE RAID tho)! Any body else?

You cant run it on IDE drives. It only works on sata drives, but a single sata drive works as long as the raid is enabled in the bios.

Is it necessary to install the Intel Application RAID Accelerator if you have two SATA hard drives on the Intel 82801ER SATA RAID controller if you don't have them in a RAID configuration? I installed just the driver that I had to load at the start of Windows XP setup in order to install XP on one of the SATA drives on the SATA RAID controller and everything seems to work just fine. So is there any benefit of installing the Intel Application RAID Accelerator if you only have the hard drives on that RAID controller, but not in a RAID configuration?

Help greatly appreciated.

Q: While installing Intel Application Accelerator driver for WinXP from driver CD that came with my P4P800, a Window showing "Incompatible hardware. This software is not supported on this chipset." pops up on the display. What did I do wrong




A: Intel Application Accelerator driver is to be used to boost the performance of the RAID function of the ICH5R south bridge on P4P800. To install Intel Application Accelerator driver, it is required to configure two SATA HDDs for RAID 0 or RAID 1 mode in advance (RAID function is not availabe on PRI_IDE1 and SEC_IDE1 connectors). If no RAID configuration is present on the SATA connectors, Intel Application Accelerator driver doesn't need to and can't be installed.
