Are there any plans to bring something more powerful than A770?
I'd try it out for sure if it was ~6800XT or faster.

2nd gen Battlemage, which is supposed to be here around the holidays. The A770 16GB is a high as it's going this gen.

And that's a pretty good first step considering how things have ramped up over the years with other GPUs.

Even gong from the legacy UHD to XE on the laptop side was a huge leap for iGPU tech. I used to ping mundane things to the GTX dGPU in older laptops for better performance but, XE performs better for those tasks whereas the 3060 stutters a bit.

Moving into the tiled setup though is where things will get interesting on the Intel side as they transition to more of an AMD setup. With both camps aligning though there should be a further push for comparable tiles / standards to make advancing the tech much quicker.

Waiting for Arrow Lake and beyond will provide the biggest leaps in terms of performance / die layout / die size. There seems to be a bit of shifting and sliding though on the route to get there. Refreshing RPL 2X to buy more time, killing off MTL and going straight to ARL, reviving things... it's a bit of a mess in the crystal ball right now. It does look promising though for a 3rd major option to grow into something more for the masses and bring down prices across the board as inventory ramps up.

AC:Odyssey passed, but DX11 performance was bad. Worse fps and consistency than the RX 580 8GB I played the game on back in 2018. Vulcan freezes and stutters here and there for a minute or so, while doing what I presume is compiling shaders. Then it's smooth locked 60fps on custom settings. Mostly a mix of high and very high. DX11 dropped into the 30s.

Gamers looking to get into some of today’s most stunning games don’t need to break the bank to enter into the world of ray tracing. We tested an Intel Arc A380 — the most affordable discrete Arc GPU at $139 — paired to a cost-effective Core i5-13400F. Kinda sounds like another balanced build, doesn’t it?

Here we have a selection of games which hit that sweet 60 FPS mark at 1080p High settings with ray tracing enabled on the Intel Arc A380. With the power of XeSS applied, some games rocket to over double the framerates they started with!

very impressive, Intel!

Get to work @DAPUNISHER

XeSS is like the other upscalers, quality and performance varies by title. It works great in Miles Morales. I read they improved Cyberpunk'd performance a lot, so I'll give that a shot with XeSS and even some RT reflections.

Added to the list as a FAIL. Watch Dogs 2 is bad. It warns that the card is below the minimum required GTX 660 2GB LOL. It has no idea what to do with ARC. Getting past the weird resolution it sets initially was a chore. Many casuals would quit right there.

DXVK triggers easy anti cheat and the game won't start. Removing easy anti cheat also prevented the game from starting. Being stuck in DX11 means you have to play with reduced quality settings at 1080p. At which point, unless you have no other choice, you have to wonder if it's worth your time. This card should crush 1080 max in a 2016 game.

If anyone knows how to get around the anti cheat to use DXVK, hit me up please.

-Not being able to play a Ubisoft game is really, technically, a plus in my book but hey to each their own

It was free from Epic. I like a lot of the open world games they make. I hadn't played any of the watch dogs until trying this. Played Sleeping Dogs though, and it was a great game. The Enter the Dragon tournament was my favorite part.

I was able to disable EAC by adding the launch argument. But the game just crashes with the DXVK files present. This one is a FAIL over all. Disappointed too much about the settings vs performance to recommend it.

For sure. Closest store unfortunately, is Duluth, Georgia = 440 miles/708km.

This is day 9 of using the system exclusively. With either HDMI and TV, or DP and single monitor. No BSODs, no black screens, no audio issues. Driver and software update process is equal to AMD, and better than Nvidia, because they don't force you to make an account to access all of their software.

Also on a hot streak of 6 games in a row working great with no extra steps.

I really don't get how Nvidia gets away with that nonsense. It really is stupid.

Updated game list. Vulcan is simply unavoidable for many older games. Even if the games run, they are not a good experience.

If Intel pushes the A770 for $199. They would move a lot of GPU's. Direct sales from Intel would make sense. From what I am seeing. The A770 is 8% better performance than the A750. The A750 is overperforming and the A770 is underperforming in benchmarks. Supposedly the A770 was supposed to be 15-20% better performance. When the cards were released the A770 was significantly better than the A750. With driver updates the A750 has narrowed the performance gap.

they could do this... since they have there own fabs..
But TSMC dictates what prices we have to pay, and they are at the moment unchecked.

I really feel TSMC needs a anti monopoly lawsuit.
They really are what you call a monopoly at this moment, and no one can step up to them, should they flee to the red, if that would ever happen tho.

After watching the video that I will post below: I'll fire up Witcher 3 and see if I get the same issues. Skyrim, I don't remove the frame cap like he did. So, I expect I won't have his microstutter problem. But I'll find out shortly.

He provides feedback on recording and editing. I know some of you are interested in that. He uses OBS, but not being a streamer or content creator, I just use the Intel capture for recording. They still need to add a hotkey for that. I used clip champ for editing, which didn't give me any issues other than the free version does not do AV1.

He says he is going to copy the 30 day ARC challenge others did. I am 3 weeks in myself, and I haven't experienced a single black screen, BSOD, or other system instability. He reports multiple examples in his time with it. Which is one of the odd things about ARC. The A380, A750, and A770 can all individually have issues when the other 2 GPUs don't in the same game or task. There will be a game where the user can't get the A380 to start it, while my A750 does. Or the A750 will be nerfed in a game during a tech tuber vid, when their A770 is fine.

Witcher 3 runs great at 1080 with most settings cranked almost all the way up, or maxed, including RT. However, I was able to replicate both issues the kid in the vid had. The jittery feel I could induce by not using a frame cap as I suspected (playing on TV). Not certain it would have felt that way with a VRR display. I'll eventually get around to testing that. The issue with distant shadows being dark blocks, was persistent with ray tracing global illumination on performance instead of quality.

I kept changing settings, over 20 times, at which point the game crashed. Jumped right back in and did not have another issue during over an hour of game time.

This is another title where XeSS looks really good IMO.

I haven't tried GTA 5 yet. I am thinking DXVK will make performance considerably better than what he experienced. I'll give it a go, and let you know.

Pedro played some games on the A770 16GB.

I agree the cards are hit or miss for gaming. Sometimes ARC outperforms your expectations, in other games it underperforms. DXVK fixes most issues, but problems with anti cheat blocking it, and some titles straight up not working, are still a thing.

DXVK can only help DirectX games though. Some older games use OpenGL, and there you just have to live with Intel drivers.

Non-gaming experience: I've been using Premiere Pro and PyTorch with the A770M in the NUC 12 Enthusiast. Same everything as the desktop A770, including the 16GB GDDR6, but TDP limited to 130W. I needed a mini-PC/NUC and thought I'd pay the extra over GPU-less models so I can play around with it.

GPU acceleration is working with the latest version of Premiere Pro, despite the latest WHQL driver notes suggesting it might not. The NUC also as a 12700H CPU with integrated Xe graphics, but Hyper Encode doesn't seem to work with h264. I tried a HVEC export and this seemed to engage both GPUs.

Getting the GPU to work with PyTorch has been painful under Windows (which I unfortunately need on this PC for other work). Easiest path seemed to be via the Intel supplied Docker container but this hasn't worked for me either. I'll just wait until it is properly supported. Very different experience to getting things running via CUDA on my RTX 3080 laptop.

Thanks for providing your experience in those areas. I don't have a workflow, and don't do much worth mentioning outside of gaming.
