Sweet!

I wonder why Newegg still has it for above 230 + shipping?

Out of the box BIOS only allow for up to 20% overclock. Yes they count it as % instead of actually letting you set the clock rate.

If you do the mod to enable debug mode in BIOS, it allows you to clock it over 20%. However because it requires you to draw on the motherboard with a trace pen, it will void your warranty. I've done it myself, the mod is very easy to do.

With crappy memory (DDR2 675) and stock heatsink, my E6400 wasn't stable pass 25% anyway. However it's happying running at 3GHz atm.

This board is well worth the $175 asking here, I paid $250 for it at the egg last Sept. and haven't regret it.

Bad Axe - a town in Michigan, in the "thumb" I believe. I wonder what their sport's team mascot is?

According to this XS thread (and others), the BX2 has debug enabled for all processors - no mods required.

There is no mod necessary for overclocking beyond 20%. The best bios is the 2333 version. My E6600 was Orthos stable at 3.6GHz@1.354V (1.3875V set in bios) and was Orthos stable for 30min+ at 3.96GHZ. This motherboard is one of the best that I have used and is currently in the top 5 of C2D boards IMO. If you're buying it with a chip that has at least a 9x multi than you will love it. I've seen a couple guys hit 470-480MHZ on this board with no mods so even a processor with an 8x multi would still do well.

LOL - You have a bright future in marketing. They have the Asus ROG Commando if interested

Elfear- Very informative thanks Mine shipped today...OT- Do you really use 4 core power? Or is it just for hobby sake? I barley use two.

BlackPearl.....he's mistakenly comparing the Bad Axe to the Bad Axe2, a much improved version of the motherboard, at least as the BIOS is concerned. Unfortunately, you can put the two next to each other and you'd be very hard pressed to see a physical difference between the two, so just looking at them can lead to confusion.

The Bad Axe 2 allows a LOT more overclocking options and without having to enter the debug mode or modify anything on the board. That was the reason for the revision of the Bad Axe. Intel is trying very hard, with this board at least, to enter the enthusiast market and has succeeded, at least in part. Whiel it's not a screamer like some of the 965 chipsets from Asus and Gigabyte, the board is ultimately stable across almost any hardware thrown at it and nay memory jammed into it.....and is Kentsfield capable out of the box.

But, like all Intel boards, they're built with compatibility and stability first in mind, not highest overclocking ability, which is why the BA2 seems to always finish at the bottom of OC'ing benchmarks and such. Of course, a lot of the speed differences seen in the BA2 vs. a lot of the other boards will only be noticable in benches anyway, and not really noticeable in the real world.

I had the chance to pick up a quadcore for 1/2 price and I couldn't resist. I don't really need it but future games will take advantage.
