I've bought almost all my components with the motherboard and memory being the last few ones. Memory, I need to see what the motherboard I will be getting before I decide on it.
I've looked at almost all the 975X chipset boards and the nforce4 Intel boards.
They all don't look overly impressive. So I really don't know what to get.
I've heavily considered the Intel 975xbx But I am waiting for the new revision to circulate more. But it lacks in only 1 IDE, no PATA RAID, and DDR2 667 only. Not the best performer according to reviews but a solid board for stability.
The ASUS boards for both chipsets (975/nforce4) seems to be hit or miss according to user forums especially at their own asus forum. The nForce4 pretty much has all the features I want except DDR2 800. The 975 board sounds flakey according to users, again only 1ide/no pata raid.
The Gigabyte 1975 is a bit older, not too fond of the fan cooling compared to silent cooling on other boards.
The Foxconn board also am waiting for the new revision to come out before I can consider it.
MSI boards for both 975 and nforce seem ok too.
None of these boards really scream wow, or even near it when looking at user reviews with problems pertaining to each board. And the results when compared to AMD platforms aren't that great either.
Conroe support isn't a big deal, but why pay the same amount for a board which will very soon support it?
So what do you think I should do? Does anyway feel the same way, lack of impressive Intel platform boards to choose from compared to AMD?
