Wow, purepc used DDR4-2133Mhz for all newer systems. Knowing how much this one thing gimps Ryzen's gaming performance I'd immediately disregard their results. They couldn't try one notch higher for DDR4 on all supporting systems? KL easily supports 3.2Ghz(and higher) DDR4 while Ryzen with latest bios updates works with up to 3.2Ghz dual channel single rank memory.

What a mega fail of a test.

Going from DDR4-2666 CL16 to DDR4-3200 CL16 gains only 1% according to ComputerBase - PurePC used DDR4-2133 CL14. They could have used something better, but that wouldn't change the results in any significant way.

DDR4-2933 used here and still not enough to catch up with a stock i7-6900K (lower clocks) using DDR4-2133 in any of the titles they tested, just like DigitalFoundry already pointed out.

There are some notable performance differences while using 2933Mhz memory. Many titles see ~10% improvement. The IF clock is automatically 36% higher with 2933Mhz DDR4 vs 2133Mhz. Also there seems to be new Agesa update being pushed that reduces memory latency by some 7.5% and another one coming in May that is supposed to improve DDR4 support (3+Ghz memory). By that time we should be getting Total War patch for better Ryzen support and maybe a few more games will be updated. Lets see how Ryzen performs with all those early kinks ironed out.

It is basically a smidgen slower than 5Ghz i7 7700K running 3.2Ghz DDR4.

Yep, I noticed that too. Coupled with their "odd" choice of DDR4 memory I'd say that test is basically BS. The video I linked above shows what a 4Ghz Ryzen with high speed DDR4 can do, it's an awesome gaming chip. The only gripe I have with AMD is that they should have worked harder on BIOS support PRIOR to the launch, or just delayed the launch 1 month. Mobo vendors had no time to test and validate higher speed DDR4 with new Ryzen SKUs.
