Was it not supposed to be 10 cores? And 1750? Seriously? So if i hypothetically wanted to upgrade my aging 980x, which was 960 EUROs about 6 years ago, now i gotta pay 2x as much for its successor? Awesome.

Not sure why you'd consider that price representative?

If you click on the link and look its 10 cores.

The 8core 6900k is going for $875 on ebay..Interesting..That's below the supposed MSRP...While the 10core is above the supposed MSRP...

he also has the 6850k for $575

No 6800k yet!

Are these ES samples or something? How did he get ahold of them, and how is he getting by with selling them on E-Bay? I can see selling them on the sly, but E-Bay???

They're not listed as ES. They're listed as retail chips.

The heat spreader says "Intel Confidential" and the clock speed, which means it's either ES or some other pre-retail chip. Actual retail/production chips will have the model number on the heat spreader.

The current rumored price for the 10 core is $1499.99

Thanks. Still 500 more than my 980x and to my knowledge every other EE CPU since then until now.... or was the current 5960x more than that? Not sure.

It's probably at least $500 faster...

Except this particular one is a pre-production sample that may not even work properly...

Hopefully the presence of those chips on Ebay means that the release is imminent. Now here's hoping that motherboard refreshes align. I can't wait to get the 6950X!

That Cinebench 11.5 score - 15.14 points, on an 8 core 16 thread CPU, is slower than the 5960x benchmark I just googled

(here: http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/a...5-cinebench-r15-u-cinebench-2003-a-cb11.5.png )

where the 5960x scored 16.88 points. I'm not expecting the 5960x to be as fast as the 6900K, so hopefully I've made a mistake in my comparison somewhere.
Isn't that some overclocked chip?

Another review shows 14.29 for CB 11.5 and this one gives 1337 for CB R15 for 5960x.

Agreed. BTW ES are not the property of the possessor but of Intel. BE CAREFUL. In addition LTC8K6 is spot on with his analysis. You can't register a ES. You can purchase Intel OCing protection plan for it (@$35 to assure a new chip if it burns out by OCing).

With these leaks starting to hit, are we still looking at Computex for official reviews? I realllllly want to build a new system but have been waiting to see how Broadwell-E plays out before dropping the cash on a skylake build. This waiting is killing me though.

@Worthington , Without the L4 that elevated the Broadwell-C chips over Skylake in some instances, Broadwell-E is going to be a fairly predictable ~5% IPC increase, not too much to get excited about except for those needing to increase their core count. I'd build a Haswell-E system today if needed, it's not like the CPU can't be sold later, it's well established that Intel CPUs hold their value fairly well in these days of such small improvements.

Check out the clock for clock graphs on Anandtech. Even though the results are "poisoned" a bit by the existence of the L4, trends can be extrapolated pretty well:

Broadwell-E is not for gamers.Broadwell with L4 and skylake with fast DDR4 will be much faster in games.

I wouldn't say that at all. Slap a decent cooler on broadwell-e and OC to 4.3ghz+ and it will play any game out there great and be fairly future proofed as games use more and more cores. On top of that it will be a beast at productivity work.

Well, there may be some games that will be faster on overclocked six or maybe even 8 core BW-E. I doubt the games will utilize the 10 core, and it probably will not overclock that well either. Hard to say what DX-12 will bring on cpu demands.

Problem is, BW-E is starting at a 5% or so IPC disadvantage, and probably will not overclock quite as high as 6700k, so a game will have to use the cores really well to match or beat overclocked 6700K.
