Intel C610, RAID and TRIM

I've created a RAID 0 array using Intel's RAID ROM; I've also installed the RSTe driver 4.3.0.1223 (which according to Intel is the latest for my system).

I'm using TRIMcheck to see if things are working right, and I can verify that for my two SSDs not in a RAID array that running TRIMcheck the first time, starting TRIM via the Windows optimize hard drives UI and re-running TRIMcheck results in success.

The same steps however do not work for the RAID 0 array. TRIM takes longer on the array (it hangs at 16% for a bit) and once it has completed, TRIMcheck shows a failure as the blocks haven't been trimmed.

Is there something I'm missing?

Does trim even work on a raid setup? I have Win10 installed on an older Toshiba laptop that only supports jbod which is a very simple form of raid and trim doesn't work on it. Naming the OS and MB would be helpful too.

Trim works on RAID 0 and RAID 1 on many current Intel chipsets after a certain driver version (especially RSTe/Enterprise).

I have found it to be problematic though, and feel that it works best, and sometimes only, with the driver series being the same as the Intel bios rom series installed on the MB.
That's just my experience YMMV

Windows 10, 64bit.

It's a Dell T5810 iirc - so no idea what motherboard it is. It's a C610 chipset, that''s the best I can find...

But according to everything I've read, TRIM should work. I've got the latest EFI installed, and I've installed the right drivers. What'd I miss?

I tried installing the more recent 5.x intel RSTe drivers, and had to do a system restore - I couldn't boot. I think the ONLY thing I haven't checked is the ROM version in the Intel RAID controller...but given the machine is brand new from Dell, it should have a recent ROM.

In theory, you didn't miss anything.
Have you tried an uninstall-reboot-reinstall of the 4.3 driver?

A "recent" OROM is a relative term, when dealing with an OEM PC.
I'm pretty sure it will be a 4 series, but which subseries?

Definitely match the driver to the OROM version series for troubleshooting.
I know my server uses a 3 series OROM and even though it runs fine with all 4 (and even the 5 series) drivers, there is no performance increase AND trim only works with the matching 3 series drivers.
Other 4 series OROM servers I've run into were the same way (i.e. 4.2 series OROMs needing 4.2 series drivers for trim to work)

The version of the OROM is 4.0.something - looks like it's well out of date. I'll find a USB key and try updating it today and report back.
