I was using this link to confirm
https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/62vp2g/clearing_up_any_samsung_bdie_confusion_eg_on/
Copying and pasting it says the following
G.Skill Trident Z 3200 MHz CL16 F4-3200C16D-32GTZA 8Gb Samsung B-Die Dual Double
Jedec Info
That is for the 32gb kit...I was rushing and overlooked that. So apparently I have....Lets take a look.
I have the following.
G.Skill Trident Z 3200 MHz CL16* F4-3200C16D-16GTZR 8Gb Hynix A-Die Single Single
Jedec Info
The astrix means "Entries marked with * indicate that you may get Samsung or Hynix IC, both variants exist with the same model number."
I will do some ram testing shortly. I just got the system built and it's absolutely gorgeous. I really didn't think I was going to like the RGB lighting on the strix board, but man...looking at it in person it really is gorgeous. Currently absolutely thrilled with the RGBness of this build haha.
Is there a way I can find out from the model number, or like cpu-z which ram it is? Or should I just try overclocking it / lowering the CL to see how it does? I really wish the wife and I weren't in such a rush when we were picking out ram, I now feel like I made a terrible purchase, even though it looks pretty. Who knows, maybe even if its "bad" ram, I will still get a decent ish overclock on it.
I'm getting ready to do my overclocking on the 8700k currently. Wish me luck guys. If you would like pictures, just let me know. Happy to take them for you
Edit: I do have a question, I am a little old school and generally used linX burn test to test my processors stability. I sometimes used prime95 back in the day as well. What are the best stress testing programs for stability that I don't need to run for 24 hours straight to know if I am stable. Let me know if you would please, thanks!
