the Athlon 2's are 2 x 1 MB Cache (like an Opteron 175 ... but faster).

you're getting 80+% of the performance for 25% of the price.

what results would one of you guys that are taking the Wolfdale's to 4 GHz+ get with the Regor ? can't help but wonder.

Looking at hwbot world records, you'll see Clarkbars have passed all Wolfdales in SuperPi, pifast, and wprime.

And that's all they will ever get records in... Once you really start pushing the clocks, the memory system on the Clarkbars just can't keep up.

Based on your post, it seems to imply that Wolfdale can still compete in 3D benches :hmm: Um, the current i7s already have them beat in AM3, 3D03, and 3D05. Wolfdale never was a competitor in 3D06 or Vantage. 3D01 is the only thing they have going for them.

I learned of the existance of a Q9505 today! The Q9505 is like a Q9550 with half the L2 cache of the Q9550. I bet you didn't know about that one. What can it do? I spent the last two weeks looking for a way to install my E8600 E0 (Q820A 5.0GHz on air chip) on my Abit IP35 Dark Raider motherboard. There is NO way to do it. The E8500 C0 worked like magic, but even the best beta bios won't help the IP35 and E0 8600. I've never owned a Quad but I'd like to race one some day. taltamir, I use a modified Silent Knight II with Zalman mounting and it is truly a nightmare to swap CPU's!!! One geeks junk is another geeks treasure.

I was completely unaware of the Q9505, just check and they do exist, however it doesn't make that much sense as for me in Canada the diff in price to a full fledged Q9550 is only 20 CDN.

I hear you coldpower, I personally would go for a Q9550 over a Q9505 if I was into Quads. Lately I've been seeing some Intel unreleased experimental CPU's (Q9505, E6500K, E8700, etc.) and I'd love to play mad scientist and test some of those chips that the public never sees.
