Intel Core Duo

Are these 32 bit or 64 bit processors? Assuming that the answer is 32, are 64 bit processors with dual cores available?

Not so technical but I couldn't find the information at Intel, e.g., Intel Core Duo Specs

I believe they are 64 bit just like the AMD chips. They support Intel EM64T (extended memory 64-bit technology) it even says so on the spec sheet for the processors you put a link up for. EM64T is basically Intel's copy of AMD's AMD64. So yes they are 64 bit.

This is not a Highly Technical question.

However, I believe that the Core Duo chips are capable of executing x86-64 code natively.

From the site you linked:

EM64T is what Intel calls x86-64.

If you do not know which processors are 64bit and not then I really have to question your need for a 64bit processor given that it is unlikely you are going to actually be utilizing the 64bitness of said processor.

Aluvus is correct. "Core Duo" was codenamed Yonah and does not support 64-bits/EMT64/x86-64, "Core 2 Duo" was codenamed Merom/Conroe and does support 64-bits/EMT64/x86-64.

The title of the post says "Core Duo", the link in the OP's post is to "Core 2 Duo".

Core Duo = Yonah = 32-bit. Not even 36-bit PAE.

Core 2 Duo = Merom = 64-bit. Has x64 instruction set, can address more than 4 GiB if paired with suitable chipset.

Thank you for the answers. Of course, to read the specs one has to know that "EM64T 2" refers to a memory spec. And, thanks for looking out after my welfare, BrownTown. Sometimes mom doesn't get to it.

Although, you don't have to use the 64 bit capability of a processor to reap the benefits of an improved architecture.
