Hello,

I have a new 2.4B cpu with a broken pin and a few bent ones...now it is kind of a long story how it got that way, but the cpu ( as far as i know) was in fine condition when I recieved it....

So, I was just wondering if it is possible to RMA this cpu back to intel or possibly send it back for repair......

any thoughts??

thanks

I had a 2.26 P4 that never worked. After looking at it I found one of the pins was shouter that the other pins, which I suppect was not long enough to make contact. I was able to RMA it directly back to Intel, no problem.

According to newegg's faq, Intel will not refund a physically damaged processor. A buddy of mine borked his 1.7 celeron and I tried to straighten one of the pins and it broke off. It had somehow gotten over an entire row and inserted itself along side a neighboring pin =/

I checked out newegg's RMA process and told him to just stick it back in and give it a try because he had nothing to lose. It's been running gimpy for almost a week

quite a few have successfully rma'd them recently with broken pins...the real question and this is important as to who is really to blame, what happened??? You drop it?? Your fault!!! You trying to mod it broke it??? Your fault!!! Cpu gets suctioned to cpu cause of crappy thermal pad causing the chip to violently pop out of socket and thus bend or break pins....Intels fault for using that crap pad...Rma it!!

when i did my pin mods i found that a certain NEEDLE has the perfect girth to correct any bent pins. try a safety pin also or a regular pin.
