Well 6100H is a 35W TDP product, I am not that convinced it is a good comparison

Better a 6X00U, which looks like the same result at 3100 MHz so 3100/2600 so it looks like 20%

but as others said, better wait.....

even if its 10% at 4.5GHz it will be nearly like comparison between 4.5GHz CFL and 5GHz CFL and that is a huge difference

I am looking for a replacement for my SP4 PRO i5-6300U and currently nothing on the market that doesn't throttle in minutes in that form factor
Icelake looks like decent improvement, but bare in mind, geekbench is also sort-of the best case scenario as it uses AVX-512 in many tests, all the fixed function hardware (AES acceleration modules, etc), and everything else not used that often in most every-day workloads. The scores will improve though, with working turbo and fast LPDDR4 (as memory bandwidth and latency also affects scores)

Still, thhe combo of better IPC and graphics (with VESA adaptive-sync) and battery life does look enticing in a small form-factor

On Comet vs Ice, the two Lenovo laptops mentioned currently use U models but I suppose they could move to Y, be it 5.2 or 7. Keeping it at 15W for the most part would help with quality binning. Either way Icelake for sure isn't going to have as high of turbo clocks as the 15W Comet; and will be advertised as such... even though the Comet laptop models aren't going to hit the 4.8 or so without being cTDP Up and of course the IPC gain.

I'm going to say that roadmap is fake but probably not that far off.
As @witeken pointed out on Twitter, this is their SIPP roadmap, a business oriented offering with special lifecycle and stability in terms of platform component changes.

This may be enough to explain part of the timeline, although it still doesn't inspire much confidence.

No 7nm CPU (unless server only) in '21 - holy smokes . Screw 10 nm, Intel needs 7nm EUV to compete by then.

Yeah, I've been thinking that they essentially gave up trying to fix 10 nm to get their asses moving on 7 EUV.

If Rocket Lake brings Sunny Cove cores to 14 nm, it might not be so bad for gaming although very toasty.

imho, Rocket Lake is derived from Willowcove. Comet Lake is the one from Sunnycove.

Comet Lake is single die, and Rocket Lake is chiplet;

14nm + 14nm and 14nm + 10nm.

Comet Lake launches after Ice Lake; hence, Sunnycove.
Rocket Lake launches after Tiger Lake; hence, Willowcove.

Yeah, I thought 10nm would be limited to U/Y 2c/4t and then full steam ahead on 7nm. It’s a bit early, but no news is pretty bad. If Intel doesn’t move Xeon to 7nm sometime in 21, it’s going to be against 5nm AMD EPYC. Intel’s margins will crater. Geez, just how badly screwed up has Intel’s once vaunted node development process become.

Sunny Cove should bring higher perf/clock which may keep it competitive with Zen2. Hopefully Intel will fix its supply issues so it can be more cost effective. Matisse is going to crush Intel in MT if the dual 8 core chiplets on AM4 expectations are true.

Not happening.
Like, not at all.
Intel should pray to at least ship SPR by 2021.
Intel’s margins will crater
They will crater versus Rome/Milan already.

Not even once it failed before, not even during Prescott.

Should be faster.
Problem is, more complex core is more xtors, thus more power and more area.
Thus less clocks.

I really dont understand how on earth Intel is going to do to release 10 SunnyCove cores along with its huge IGP on 14nm... Man i really not looking forward to see Comet Lake power numbers.

Comet Lake is not using Sunny Cove, it's good ol Skylake. We'll have to see what Rocket Lake is using.

Just a heads up...

In something else in Arizona;

7nm is already in the qualification phase based on Intel linkedin profiles.
Pathfinding -> Development -> Qualification -> Risk -> Ramp -> Production <== right?

Comet Lake is not using Sunny Cove, it's good ol Skylake. We'll have to see what Rocket Lake is using.
Intel has stated Comet Lake is post-Skylake. Only speculation up to this point has stated it might be Skylake.
