dannydiscus: I actually also have WinXP 32bit, but I'm not able to install it with either BIOS 2395 or 2431. I can go through all the text based parts, but after the first reboot, I get a blue screen just after the graphics are being shown with the 39 minutes left message. It's the same for WinXP x64, I already have installed, which cannot go any further into booting as the first graphics are being shown. With BIOS 2333 everything is rock stable.

I have also tried to do MemTestx86 1.70 (just released yesterday) with BIOS 2431, and this is also rock stable, so I'm pretty sure now, that it is not the RAM I'm hunting for anymore... I am at a loss of what to do now.

One thing I've read though, is it possible that you should connect ALL power connecters on the motherboard, both the 12 oin connector, the 4 pin connecter AND the molex connecter - I currently don't have the molex connecter connected to my power supply...

I really haven't got a clue as to why the system becomes so unstable.

I have the 24 pin, 8 pin, and molex power cables connected and have no issues with hangs, reboots, or anything else like that, well unless I overclock to far
So connect these three things up and report back, my guess is that you will be ok

These lock-ups seem to occur most often while adjusting a specific setting, but they have happened as I just navigated through the BIOS and touched no settings at all. I have come across a few mentions of this BIOS issue with the D975XBX2 and even more reports with the D975XBX on various forums but have not found a solution. Is this problem simply an issue I can safely ignore and look for a BIOS update to fix, or is an RMA something I should consider?

I have had a couple of lockups in the BIOS. I found if I press and release (one at a time) the 2 ALT keys and the 2 CTRL keys, everything returns to normal. I think somehow the BIOS thinks I'm holding one of those keys down, so it sees CTRL-arrow keys instead of arrow keys, and doesn't do anything. Pressing and releasing the keys sends a key up, and the arrow keys work again.
