I know this is an old article but I have the same issue here so I want to bring it back up.
I will be using
Intel DP55WG mobo with
i7-860 CPU for a build.
I am planning to use 2x4GB ram to make 8GB in total.
My first problem was all i7 recommended ram is 6GB kit, but I figure out that is only for i7-9xx and since I am using 860, 8GB should be good. Problem 1 solved.
It comes down to
ram speed DDR3-1333 vs. DDR3-1600. I do not plan to overclock. However, I can find DDR3-1600 cheaper then DDR3-1333. They are
NOT hyperX memory. Which speed should I go for?
Will non hyperX memory of 1600 work on this mobo or will it just won't boot?
These are my two choices and they are the cheapest I can find. Both are 1.5v so it meets the mobo standards.

I see that all the Intel tested memory are only 1333, not 1600. Also, is it ok to go with G.SKILL for intel mobo or should I go with more famous brand like CORSAIR, OCZ, KINGSTON, SAMSUNG, ETC
