Intel DP55WG DDR3 1600 or 1333

I have an Intel DP55WG Motherboard and an I7 860. What memory should I be looking for DDR3 1600 or DDR3 1333.

Any recommendations and memory would be very helpful.

Intel boards are notoriously picky about memory voltage, so pay attention to that.

If there is not a real cost difference between the two, then get a quality pair of 1600s from a reputable manufacturer, like Kingston, Micron, Samsung. I have also had good luck with Corsair, Mushkin and others swear by OCZ.

If there is a big cost difference, then get the 1333s.

I wish Intel would make their own memory.

DDR3-1600 if you are going to OC your CPU. However, do notice that most RAM with clock higher than 1333 requires 1.65V which is higher than the maximum RAM voltage(1.575V). Check G.skill for low voltage RAM if you don't feel comfortable to exceed the maximum value.

DDR3-1333 if you don't plan to OC or if you don't want to exceed the maximum RAM voltage.

I just used 4x 2GB sticks of DDR3-1333 from Crucial (Micron). Works fine and runs at 1.5V. Not planning on overclocking it (since it's for my VPN/Hyper-V server).

I know this is an old article but I have the same issue here so I want to bring it back up.

I will be using Intel DP55WG mobo with i7-860 CPU for a build.

I am planning to use 2x4GB ram to make 8GB in total.
My first problem was all i7 recommended ram is 6GB kit, but I figure out that is only for i7-9xx and since I am using 860, 8GB should be good. Problem 1 solved.

It comes down to ram speed DDR3-1333 vs. DDR3-1600. I do not plan to overclock. However, I can find DDR3-1600 cheaper then DDR3-1333. They are NOT hyperX memory. Which speed should I go for?
Will non hyperX memory of 1600 work on this mobo or will it just won't boot?

These are my two choices and they are the cheapest I can find. Both are 1.5v so it meets the mobo standards.

I see that all the Intel tested memory are only 1333, not 1600. Also, is it ok to go with G.SKILL for intel mobo or should I go with more famous brand like CORSAIR, OCZ, KINGSTON, SAMSUNG, ETC
