yes, its real. I'm trying to find which vendor offers overnight shipping before i place my order. and does anyone know the difference in the three 8400 part numbers for sale?

one is 8400a and one is retail box, and the other is oem. whats the diff?

I got my E6600 running at 3375mhz now... I still might just buy a new G0 Q6600 and a new p35 mobo....I don't know what to do

I'm having a tough time too...I'd rather buy it at a retail location so I don't have to pay for overnight shipping & I'll have it in my hands...But I don't think the retail (Fry's) stores have them yet...At least not for sale...Otherwise it's between $20 - $25 to have it here tomorrow or Friday...

Remember, all etailers have shipping cut off times & each one is different...Something else to keep in mind...The later we get in the day, the greater the chance you'll have to pay a premium to have it by Friday...

I've got a Q6600 running at 3.4 and an E6750 running at 3.6 and there is absolutely no perception of the faster machine (all other components being equal)

Unless you are doing serious cpu intensive work, spend that money on a video card, especially if you game. An E6600 to E8400 is a waste IMO.

can't find any e8500's listed as "in stock". I see friday 18th and mon jan 21st. and one site says order now, and ship from manufacturer. i'd rather just take it when its in stock at the retailer.

I actually called & confirmed they had these in stock about an hour ago...I just didn't feel like paying that much for expedited shipping...3:00 PM EST is their cut off time for same day shipping...

Thanks for the link, ordered it from buy.com for $211 shipped. I'm not in a huge hurry for it to get here so the free budget shipping was fine for me. Thanks for the links, only need the software and one more HDD for the new build!

I'd say mid February before they really start shipping in volume. They need to get these out to all their OEMs too. The good news for E8xxx buyers is Intel's Q9xxx delays means more cores being packaged as Core 2 Duos.

prices for this chip will go up, after january. stabilize, then down after march, and stay somewhere around 200 for the lifecycle of the product. Hope this helps!
