When I put my finger on it it stops it's little trembling noise. Does it mean it's not secured properly in the mobo? or is this normal?

Was thinking of solving problem by tying a part of it to something else with the rubberband.

Any ideas/thoughts?

Need some more details. Are you talking about the CPU cooler or just the fan on the cooler? If the cooler wiggles allot on the CPU then you don't have the retention pins snapped all the way down.

Well if its just not securly in place on the HS then there isn't much you can do about that. Then again you may be able to come up with a creative way to solve the problem is its that anouying to you. Otherwise its not really hurting anything as long as your CPU temps are fine.

also, when i increase the speed of the fan the trembling goes up in noise. and then again, with a little touch on the intel fan it goes away.
should I bother uninstalling and installing the whole cooler again? if so, will the current thermal paste be enough or should i buy more?

Shouldn't use TIM twice, What is loose? the fan or the heatsink? You may not need to pull the sink at all but if you do, while you have the fan off you may be able to find out exactly what is loose. Possibly placing a shim under the fan clip, one of the two that hold the fan to the heatsink will help. if the entire assembly is loose you should be able to fix the pushpin w/o removing the heatsink at all. Check your pushpins first.

You don't need to replace your vid card for a fan, you can replace the fan.

Also, next time you trouble shoot fans in your case please post one thread, it would be much easier to follow.

Thanx for the reply, very informative and yes I'll stick to one thread.
I'm not sure what is loose...all i can tell you is that when I tought the intel logo on the fan just a bit the vibration stops. so i'm assuming its the fan?!
also, how do i check my pushpins? had a lot of trouble installing those btw. Right now when i push on all 4 with enough force nothing happens so i guess they're stuck in place properly.

ok..found it...it's the fan that's trembling..cause when i push on the pins its still same noise...only when i ush on fan enclosure it goes away...any suggestions on how to improvise to make the sound go away?
on the other hand...are there intel fans that are quieter while having good cooling?

It's not really an Intel fan......Intel just buys these cheap HSFs from somebody and puts their label on them. It simply sounds like a loose fit of the fan retention bracket to the heatsink. Post a few pictures and maybe somebody can help. There are a bunch of different-looking Intel OEM HSFs.

The other possibility.... the fan itself is faulty and vibrating. Not much you can do about that. You're dealing with a <$10 setup here, and probably not worth dealing with. There are plenty of inexpensive HSFs available, much better/quieter than the Intel setup.
