Intel G2 SSD Drives

I always thought the Intel G2 drives were the fastest. But after looking at the specs it writes only up to 70MB? That's pretty crappy compared to OCZ where its 150MB. Why do people say the Intel drives are the fastest? The reads on the OCZ by the specs anyway show that they are faster at both read and write.

Intel drives are 4X as fast as OCZ drives in random writes. Generally, that will more than make up for the slower sequential write speed.

I see you say this yet even though the OCZ kicks Intels butt on sequential writes of benchmarks like AS SSD, I see the actual score on AS SSD to be generally double for Intel because of their huge lead in random writes. How do I not know that Intel tunes their random writes to score so high on AS SSD?

No Intel tunes high random write scores, because that's WAY more important for a OS/application drive than high sequential writes. There are people who need high sequential writes - see Orubasarot - but the majority is better off with a Intel drive..

I think that's what I was saying, lol!

To say that OCZ is tweaking their drive toward benchmarks when Intel or any of them "could" be. Other Indilinx drives run similar to OCZ so I don't think OCZ is tweaking anything other than to get the maximum possible performance. If they wanted to tweak for benchmarks, they would tweak random writes as it makes the largest difference in overall scores in tests like AS SSD.

Ok you're right, I think Emulex (and I for sure) just wanted to say that Intel didn't try to tune their drives for the easy marketable numbers (big = good), but what brings the biggest effect for customers.

But you're right that there are already benchmarks who try to emphasize that, so both companies try to optimize for one benchmark or another
