But they gain market share. They establish a GPU brand for themselves. You have to look at the long term goal rather than short term setbacks. The Arc GPU's were more than a year late to begin with.
Unless the long term goal is going bankrupt, it doesn't seem to be a good idea to produce product you will lose money on.

Point being they’re going to take a loss on these first gen cards, intel knows and has known that. They could afford it if they wanted to.

I think that you underestimate how early these chips have been produced and how long they gathered dust in a warehouse due to the drivers not being ready. They were undoubtable hoping to launch the cards into the mining boom market or at least a much better market than now.

There is little point in trying to gain huge market share with the current cards. The current sales numbers are perfectly sufficient to gather enough data to improve the drivers further.

Fair enough and I am purely speculating and that was sort of my point, if the cards are expected to be cleaned out of the channel when intel wants them out there is no reason to change what they’re doing.

The most difficult part of making graphics cards is the initial product . After that everything else becomes much easier with new generations of cards.

Sparkle must have gotten a sweet deal from Intel. A look at their site shows they have been making AMD and Nvidia GPUs both embedded and discreet. All lower end stuff.

Sold. I really dig the look of the Sparkle cards, but the LE just hit my pull the trigger price. I will be selling a Powercolor Fighter 6600XT for dirt cheap soon.

Taking forever to get my A750 LE, tracking says Tuesday. How are they sending it, pony express? I guess I am spoiled by next day and 2 day Amazon. Props to @coercitiv for the head's up on the $199.99 deal, it's already $250 again.

Daniel-San did A770 16GB vs 4060ti -

It sort of highlights why $299 is a better price point. Because by the time the 16GB comes into play, it's basically pointless.

For those that are interested; I think Newegg did a copy pasta for the Sparkle A380 specs. It says 8 pin connector, the pics show it is slot powered. And since there is a slot powered A380 in HP desktops, I am confident it is slot powered.

I almost jumped @ $199. I have to wait. I think I really need 16GB of vram because I have 3 monitors. I will be watching the Arc A770 pricing carefully over the next couple of months.

Daniel-San matches RX 7600 vs A770 16GB. In a few instances ARC is better than the RX 7600. VRAM limits, 1440, and ray tracing in particular. Notes that XeSS looks better to him than FSR.

I don't agree with his conclusion that the RX 7600 is preferable however. First, it's Ferengi math, which I loath. It fails to provide nuance. E.G. those that will keep a card for years. Second, he is comparing current pricing, which is the highest I have seen it on ARC cards in a long time. The Predator has been as low as $329. At which point you are talking $60 for twice the ram, better textures, and likely, a better 1440p experience from now on. The 16GB is sold out at Newegg, so even at $350 it is selling.

I read that the Predator software offers fan control and works with all ARC cards. I will find out later today.

Peek-a-Boo

They have to be losing money at $200. The box/packaging is quality. The card is deceptively heavy; it feels premium when you are holding it.

Install was a breeze. DDU in safe mode for the Nvidia drivers, turn it off, install card, run the beta driver install at desktop. Then it suggested the latest WHQL drivers from May 10th. It is all very n00b friendly. I would call the notifications at boot excessive or unnecessary. But then again, better to treat everyone like n00bs and mouthbreathers.

ARC control and the telemetry overlay are fine. I don't think there is any hotkey for recording yet? I will have to do more homework on a few things. I have it setup to record with AV1 1080p. I presume there was no higher resolution offered because of the monitor.

It runs quiet, and zero coil whine = schweet! It was my biggest concern after seeing multiple users complain about it. It is staying in the 60s on vram temp, which is good for being in a NR200 with only 2 fans.

Specs:
Ryzen 5600 ECO with 4.65GHz boost
2x16GB 3600 MT/s
Gigabyte B550i AORUS PRO AX (ReBar enabled)
2TB Silicon Image UD90 gen 4 nvme
EVGA SFX 650W gold full modular
CoolerMaster NR200 mini-ITX case
Intel ARC A750 LE
MSI Optix 27" 1080p 165Hz

Tested 2 games so far. I picked these to start because both games are quirky on either newer AMD or Nvidia GPUs, that I have tried.

First up:

AC:Black Flag. This game has issues when enabling ambient occlusion and MSAA. It's like the shadow map floats around in front of you or something. It's a weird one. I will record it and see if it shows up enough to see it. I don't remember if it was team red or green I was using when I first experienced the issues, but it is also there on ARC. Turn those off and it is a locked 60fps experience. Looks and plays great.

Ryse:Son of Rome. This is another jank game. It can have frame pacing issues even in exclusive fullscreen mode, with vsync and frame cap off. ARC did great. I played both games for at least 30 minutes.

3DMark scores are exactly where they should be i.e. in the average/good range. If there were going to be coil whine Port Royal and Time Spy should have exposed it.

I am going to continue to test games I don't see much about. Batman Arkham series is up next. Dirt 4 and Mad Max too.

Haven't had a single unexpected bug or issue yet. I am typing from it now.

By the way, can you test if forcing anisotropic filtering actually works? Interested to see if it works in DX11 and DX12 titles (also Vulkan). I assume <=DX9 games shouldn't be a problem. It's sad that they still release games with broken AF or no way to control it.

Also does adaptive sync work correctly and is it possible to setup it in a way that you'll never see tearing (~NVIDIA NULL alternative)?

Where do I force AF? I have 16x AF set, and also using TAA in Ryse, and the game looks better than most much more modern games. After looking at examples online, of it on and off, I'd say it is working.

I confirmed adaptive sync in the ARC control. It lists 144-48fps range. I also confirmed it works in game. Ryse is a mess if not using a frame cap or vsync. So I setup it up with my TV and not just the screen tearing, but the stutteriness, started giving me eye strain. I put it back on the monitor, and no tearing at all. The jitteriness was mostly gone too. This game is broken for me on win11 pro, as I had all these same problems last time I played it. It isn't ARC at fault in this title.

How does the original Crysis and Crysis Remastered run on it?
LOL at you living the meme. Don't have remastered, but I'll test the OG this evening.

Ehm, it may have an effect on your font size.
LOL, I do that sometimes when I add pics. It's more for me than the reader.

I am playing on the TV tonight so the target is 1080 max settings 60 locked/vsync on.

All games were tested with the latest WHQL 4369 and Beta 4382 released today. I played each that worked, for at least 10-15 minutes.

Dirt 4 = Passed

Arkham City = Passed

Arkham Origins = Passed

Arkham Knight = Will not launch PASSED - Fixed by adding 64bit DXVK d3d11 and dxgi DLLs to same folder as game .exe

Call of Duty 2 = Will not launch PASSED - Fixed by adding 32bit DXVK d3d9 and dxgi DLLs to same folder as game .exe

Fallout 4 - Passed

Fallout New Vegas = Freezes and becomes unresponsive within a minute or two of getting in game. PASSED - Fixed by adding 32bit DXVK d3d9 and dxgi DLLs to same folder as game .exe

Crysis (GOG version) - crashes to desktop within a minute or two of gameplay. Tried both the DX9 and DX10 launcher.

I tried running the problem games as admin, and with compatibility mode for different windows versions. I have the DXVK files unpacked and ready. But I am not certain how to add the DX9 or 10 files to a game like Crysis. I tried copying them to the main folder but that did nothing.

Perhaps Ryse: Son of Rome, is a good candidate to see what happens with smooth sync? Without vsync or frame cap it's a hot mess. It'll be interesting to see if the tearing is as obtrusive or not. I'll try it later today.

Next up is Mad Max, Shadow of Mordor, Crysis 3, Sniper Elite 4, and Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition.
