First, Intel does not have a shortage of server parts, so there is no opportunity cost.

And second, "Intel 3" based Xeon parts are not selling in high volume. These are Sierra Forrest and Granite Rapids parts, launched earlier this year, and they don't have a lot of traction. The main volume Intel server parts are now Sapphire and Emerald Rapids - used in NVidia DGX boxes.
Who said that lol Intel 4/3 is still ramping don't forget Xeons shares the fab with meteor Lake as well i think Intel 3/4 is a bit capacity constrained
So this would have been a perfect opportunity for Intel to avoid at the same time, its own fab underutilization charges, and also paying to TSMC, for a node that is in high demand (N5)
As for Planning i think battlemage was planned before Intel 4/3 had hope.
why do you think they are adding ARL-U and Intel 3 die on PTL they are increasing capacity For these nodes still

i *may* have damaged my mobo.
old GPU no longer has video. the CPU video out does not work.
changing pci port does not work.
using 1 stick of ram does not work.
cant get into bios.
Why are you jacking the Intel thread with a RX 590 benchmark? Serves you right.

Alright. So flash the bios. Either with the jumper or pull the lithium battery and retry to boot.

AMD is barely breaking even, so imagine how much Intel graphics division is losing...
Depends on how you include research on the GPU uArch which they had to do anyway for the iGPU. With the improved iGPU that makes their consumer CPUs a lot more attractive especially laptops. I'm pretty sure that iGPU helped with laptop CPU sales.

If you exclude the R&D and only go by "BOM", I must assume they are breaking even else the launch would have not made any sense at all.

A lot of really crazy assumptions about wafer prices in this thread. The prices in that TH piece were listed prices. Nobody is paying $10,000 for N7 (well, N6)

Every customer has unique pricing based on negotiations and volume. Intel is likely only paying about $12,000 per wafer (I saw an unconfirmed report that was $12,133)

Do the math based on that and you’ll see they are fine. Intel isn’t selling these things at a loss lol. They are bleeding cash and under pressure to get back into the black.

I have always been saying 13K so at least i was rather close but wafer pricing comes with volume as well with Intel/Apples wafer volume there is bound to discount.
Nvidia is unique it gets a hike due to their condition i bet they are charging Nvidia more than any company rn for the same wafer

Yea as far as the cards themselves, producing and selling more battlemage cards only serves to help Intel not hurt them, even with very little margins. If it were hurting their bottom line they would just price it higher since it's already extremely competitive at its price. Also I've seen some people try to imply that intel is attempting to cut their losses by selling off what little stock they had for low prices... If they were pumping and dumping they wouldn't be pricing it so aggressively, I mean its in the name PUMP and dump.

You are new here, let's get you sorted out. I just deleted the member callouts. And we don't allow the whole fanboy, stan, etc. thing here. We require a higher level of decorum be observed. I am giving you a Mulligan on this one, next time I have to start filling in spaces on your ban bingo card. And do not edit this post or respond to my mod note other than by private message. That's not permitted either.

Arrow Lake has the most potent IGP right now until it gets dethroned by 9000G series AMD APUs and maybe Snapdragon desktop CPUs if those materialize.

That relative performance chart is so misleading it is often worse than useless. An ARC A380 sitting next to a GTX 780 is beyond ludicrous.

I also saw someone claiming that Intel battlemage PPA was somehow equally as bad as alchemist which is just insane if you are able to do a little math. Even comparatively to the generations they competed with, BMG is a lot better PPA versus competition. I assume they were trolling but who knows.

That's for N5 class wafer? Source please.

The only big discount Intel had that I've read about was this - "It has been reported that TSMC cancelled Intel’s discount because of remarks Gelsinger made about the stability of Taiwan fab due to China’s threats. According to Reuters the discount given on 3nm wafers was 40% representing $23,000 per wafer." Source:

It's next to impossible to find sources on real wafer prices. The people who know don't go "on the record" blabbing about it.

But if Intel is (or was?) getting N3B for $13,800 per wafer, that should give you a clue for N5 wafer prices.
