The box art along with the prices of the upcoming Intel Haswell hit the net today.

The box art is a departure from the standard blue box with the internals of a microchip running along it. Instead this time around the chips will arrive in a box that has multiple images on the front and a much smaller microchip illustration.

On the pricing front the Haswell chips will have an MSRP that ranges between $175 dollars and $327. Additionally, all of the Haswell chips have a clock speed of at least 3GHz and all include the HD 4600 iGPU.

the weird thing is that no mention of a Core i3

Intel released the i5/7 first with Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge as well. The Pentium/Celeron Ivys didn't come out until 2013.

4570S looks promising though it's a bit strange the 64w CPUs boost higher than the 84w equivalents. When do we get the P version with the IGP fused off and lower TDP? That fat waste of die space has to be responsible for some of the higher power consumption.

The 4570 looks like a great deal

Stagnation.... It's been 7yrs since core 2 and Intel look like they aren't trying.

As bad as AMD might be doing at least you can't fault them for not trying.

I'll be extremely surprised if that's really the box. It's ugly and tacky as hell, and lacks a lot of polish. Also, the current style of the boxes is impeccable. Why change it?

I say fake on the box.

Especially if FSB overclocking is possible on the non-K chips. 125MHz FSB would mean a 4GHz chip with the potential to turbo to 4.5GHz!

Because they are for special environments like the T series.

You can only turbobin overclock.

Lower power due to being specially binned/lower voltage.

From my understanding binning is quantified by ASIC quality.

Low quality means low leakage currents which mean that lower heat is produced and the ability to use lower volts.

High quality means high leakage, which means higher heat, but the ability withstand higher volts and higher overclocks when possessing the right cooling.

Is this correct?

---

I would actually prefer the S series with lower heat even with the lower available OC headroom. Was any information leaked if they are missing any features? Is +4 bins (400mhz) expected to be an available choice?
