Intel stock coolers are fine even for a mild OC, let alone for the non-overclocked systems.

I've been using the stock cooler for a 2.4GHz 65nm E6600, overclocked 25% to 3.0GHz for over 2 years now.

You'll be fine, don't waste your money on an aftermarket cooler, and keep your Intel warranty intact.

i7 chips run extremely hot, so don't expect to do any overclocking until you get an aftermarket cooler.

I still believe that he will be fine under these circumstances.

I thought the warranty clauses have been updated to allow for aftermarket coolers- though still a grey area. I agree though- if you're not overclocking or are a bit, the stock hsf should be fine. The only reason to go aftermarket w/o substantial overclocking would be for lower noise levels

In your opinion, is 3.0GHz possible with stock hsf?

EDIT: Sorry OP for hijacking your tread.

Thats one of the things Im trying to find out, How loud is this stock cooler? Im looking for quiet, even if I just swapped out the fan for a quiet coolermaster fan.

Just enable Smart Fan in BIOS and you should be good to go. Don't know about the 920 cooler, but the 965 cooler also has a switch on the side for P (performance) or Q (quiet).
