If anyone can do it...Intel can.

With 170 Million new pc's sold a year? Intel owns 90% of the market and has the Fab's large enough to do it. I think it'd be easy for them to do.

Why is AMD being so slow to roll out their desktop dual-core CPUs? Just can't produce the volume?

Even though AMD annoucned it first, I do think Intel will capitalize on it faster...

either way after reading those reviews I now see AMD and Intel on equal footing for dual core in my eyes. AMD wins a few, Intel wins a few...

LOL, all these AMD zealots saying Intel can't ship a million dual-core CPUs this year? Get a clue! They'll probably surpass that figure and prices will drop quickly, especially when AMD gets some competition out there. How many dual-core CPU will AMD ship in 2005? That remains to be seen.

I am an AMD fan but I can tell you that number is likely very conservative....likley if demand increases from a full out marketing blitz they can deliver even more....The problem is with both AMD and INtel they know this type of processing power is not needed by most and not able to be utilized by most apps....

What AMD fans need to realize 1 million is not that much when you think of the number of new PCs a year.....I expect 1 million is porbably even a number AMD may hit this year cause the have dual core opterons and dual core desktops in the lineup for 05...

Thats my guess.

That has always been an issue for them and trying to gain any momentum or market share....

One thing I disagree with is the fact they are "slow" in rolling out the dual core chips....PPL they are ahead of their iitial roadmap...They accelerated their opterons by months...INtel got the jump...they had to. Their prescott line is finished and lackluster, Teas was scrapped....Look at the lackluster design...how hard is it to slap 2 prescotts together. It is a temporary patch to get soething out the door and not let AMD roll on over for the crown in everything...

Tha sad fact is AMD tends to release new chips in an reactionary method. Origiannly they probably though Intel wuldn't get out dual cores until the summer and that is when they were planning on it as well originally...If they launch in June that is ahead of original schedule

You're smoking dope.

AMD's memory crippled, on a POS board, lowest end chip beat intels highest end dual core 22/24 times.

I agree w/ Duvie the number is conservative. I thiink it's gonna be a hit 10-20 million I think.

Remeber as a whole system cost, dual core is'nt much more as a percentage of the system. Since most people buy whole systems, dual core sounds sweet, I predict boon.

Look at intel's last quarter profit vs AMD's lack thereof, I would think intel is doing rather well at selling CPUs.

You dont know how to read the reports do you??? AMD made a profit in the cpu division but pulled an overall loss due to the flash memory division. AMD is profiting in the CPU division...Intel had gains but as reported was mainly in their mobile chipset and not very much in the business or desktop arenas...in the end know what you are reading....

And that does what for you? And don't say stock it's been in the toilet, I know, I own. Ain't doing you nutin, that's you paying those fat profits. I actually liked when AMD was losing a shyt pot of money and I got $44 processors. Now they getin' all uppity and thinking they can charge Intel's rip-off prices.:|

I know about AMD's flash memory division, but when you don't make a profit as a whole, it hurts your image, and your stock. AMD profit's in the processor division is pretty miniscule compare to intel. The mobile market is where there is most growth and profit. AMD is missing out big time. Even if AMD 64 mobile processors are extremely powerful. In the end of the day, most people still prefer intel inside.

Well your statement was misleading then...You talk about profit and AMD's lack of and then relate that to selling cpus....So since AMD didn't have a profit they didn't seell a lot of cpus??? They sold record amounts according to the report...remember they onw like 1/5th of the market in desktops and probably less in the different business sectors....

"In the end of the day, most people still prefer intel inside"....Do you really need me to explain that reason to you ??? probably, huh???
