Intel Motherboards?

i'm looking for a good P4 motherboard that supports up to 2.2+ ghz. It has to be relatively stable, not extrodinarily expensive, and it doesn't matter if it can't OC well. I'm an amd fan so i don't know what good pentium boards are out there... please help!

Price is the biggest issue here.

Personally I like the 8IRXP because I would rather have USB 2.0 than firewire. I will just add my own firewire card, but who needs USB 1.1 ports.

How about the Intel D850MV's - newegg has them for cheap with LAN and Audio.

I think that is the board I have decided on Somebody change my mind.

The Intel brand mobos are high quality, solid mobos. The only (obvious) drawbacks are no overclocking, not a lot of tweaking options. For overclocking, tweaking mobos, check all the NW 1.6A 1.8A threads. There are several popular boards being used.

I like the 850s but I assume that he is looking for a mobo to overclock with some nice extra features. Intel mobos make a solid foundation for a system.

Intel Mobos are what I use when im building computers for friends/family for the simple fact that they are rock solid. Id personally reccomend the D845WNL(PC133 needs Bios Flash for northwood usually) or the D845BGL(DDR Mobo, Northwood compatable from start). Both with Onboard Audio and Intel NIC.

alrighty... i'm going to choose between D850MV and GA-8IRXP. I'm getting this for my dad and he doesn't do a lot of overclocking (though i personally will ) so tweaking options is not so much of an issue as the price factor. I'm thinking of going with the intel board because it doesn't need tweaking and is user friendly... gigabyte's good for tweaking but its a bit more expensive, but since i'm not looking to tweak.... Any comments? (i like onboard lan and audio )

The Gigabyte is a good board (I have one myself) but some people have problems with a reboot issue when overclocking above 125MHz FSB (I have yet to see this problem running at 2.4GHz/150MHz FSB/300MHz DDR/1.65v). This seems to be only when you specify a core voltage (instead of auto). Apparently they have horrible technical support as well so if you're feeling lucky get the Gigabyte (so far so good here...hehe). Otherwise, if you want rock solid dependability (no overclocking though) and the security and tech support of an industry giant, go with the Intel.

Intel is the Best. I like Asus and INtel. Asus is little more expensive, Intel is geared towards OEM and tweaking is out of the question. Want to have a piece of mind? Just insert the CPU and you are up and running. Thats Intel.

My epox ep-4sda + ( with ata 133 raid ) is running well at 138 fsb, and will run stable at 133 (2.1 gigs) with the default cpu voltage. The regular 4sda is only $86. I would save your money and get a 1.6a or 1.8a and put more money into ram and video selections. I use the radeon 7500, and it runs well ($96 oem newegg).

I agree you should go with the Intel D850MVL if you want an RDRAM solution, but if you want a DDR with overclocking, then I'd go with the Asus P4B266.

Can't go wrong with either 8IRXP or Intel's but. personally I'd take a RDRAM mobo over a 845-D any day and plus, like you said, no ocing is needed so, why pay for something that won't really matter? Good luck!

I have used intel mobos before. Like hellodeli said, they are also what I use when building computers for friends and family. They rarely arrive DOA and rarely go bad. In terms of stability they are simply bullet proof.
