Then why arnt you using a 1800Mhz Duron? It's 44 bucks. Are you telling me pentium D is 600% faster in anything to justify it's 600% price premium? Are you willing to settle for three years old performance in single threaded apps with a 820? Because a 2.6 Northwood beats a 2.8 prescott inside 820. How about the processor not really running advertised speed sometimes? Otherwise known as throttling.
I won't even get into total system price, but you'd be surprised how close they are.. PD's "savings" is eaten away when building an entire system with more costly componets required for it. Not to mention it uses $100 more power a year if on 24/7.
PD's do suck.
Pentium D demand weaker than expected dispite cheap price while x2's are commanding a gouged prices and you can hardy find them in stock. PD for $270? pfft. I'd rather have that duron and $230 in my back pocket.
