Definitely a hot deal. These have excellent output along with the FM tuner. When I found mine here in Dallas, it was hidden back in the "cage" where they were selling cigarettes. You need to have the manager check for the item number on their computer (794363) which has a "somewhat" accurate inventory status. Even when his computer showed 20 odd in stock, he said it must be a mistake, because he didn't think Sams carried MP3 players.

don't forget to update your firmware, mine came with 1.0, but 1.1 is out on intel's sites, improved FM settings, and song fastforward/rewing etc..

I called the Eastgate Sam's (Cincinnati) and Thelma Lou answered:

ME: Do you have any Intel Pocket Concert Mp3 players in stock, the sku is 794363.

Thelma Lou : Hold on just a second.

five minutes goes by.

Thelma Lou : Sir? I'm sorry.....we don't carry Palm devices. HANGS UP

Oh well.

It was friday night, maybe she was busy thinking about going to dinner at the Golden Corral, then gittin' liquored up and goin' Line Dancing. (or even worse Scaryoake!)

<< (Regarding the $50 Intel rebate on the Pocket Concerts: my recent call to Intel Customer Service further confirmed what another Ebay reseller had first discovered--that the rebate would be valid for Ebay Pocket Concert purchases, as long as the addresses to which the rebate goes are unique. Bidders are invited to call Intel Customer Service at 1-800-628-8686 to confirm this. I will therefore include a copy of my original receipt for the purpose of receiving the rebate, and although I cannot GUARANTEE that the rebate will be honored, there is every indication that Intel will regard this rebate procedure as valid.) >>

thats from an ebay seller if anyone is getting greedy and gonna buy a bunch

Good yuks. Juding from my experience, I think Thelma Lou has a bunch of sisters who work at all the Staples, Circuit City and Costco stores I frequent...

chrisjor...that is funny. I called Sam's Club last night at 8:31pm (according to my computer).

Me: Can you check stock on an item?

Thelma Lou: No, we're closed.

Me: What time do you close?

TL: We open again at 7:00am

Me: What time do you close?

TL: 8:30

Me: Can you just check to see if it's in stock?

TL: NO...All the computers are shut down!

Hahahahaha...They must be quick on Friday night....push everyone out the door at 8:30:01 and shut down the computers at 8:30:55.

SleeplessHeart,

Please elaborate as to why you don't think this is a hot deal.

I have the following Mp3 players:

2 Iomega Hipzips
1 Nomad IIc
1 Nomad Jukebox Silver (6 gb)

I was able to acquire 2 of these Intels and they are also cool. I am dissapointed with the fact that they do not have the ability to have some form of media added, but 128 mb player at this price is a steal. This has FM tuner, docking station, usb cable, car cassette adapter and 2 NiMH batts. Hell, if you strip out the accessories you can get half the cost. i.e.

car cassette adapter 9.99
usb cable 5.00
2 AAA Nimh Batts 5.00
docking station 9.99 (based on the fact that the cradle for Nomad II can be found for this price)
case 1.00
rca cables 3.00
neckphones 7.00

---------
total ~ 41.00

that puts the player at around $40.00 after rebate

I consider this a scorching deal!!!!
I have looked around and I cannot fid this for under $200 anywhere!!

Argh.. the Sam's stores here in NY never have any of these good deals. Lowest price I see on this thing online is like $275. I'd be all over this deal if it didn't mean driving 5 hours to pick it up.

I had purchased one of these about a month ago and wasn't able to get it working in XP.
Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you go about it?

TIA

I was wondering if anyone who purchased thier Intel Pocket Concert from Sam's Club or Costco has received any information about the $50 rebate? I got an email from Intel on February 1st. It told me to go to www.rebatestatus.com. Their I was told that the proof of purchase I sent in was invalid. I sent in a strip from the botton of the box .5 inch by 2.5 inches, that was the closest thing I found to a Proof of Purchase on the box. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Does anyone know if I sent in the wrong Proof of Purchase?

Thanks
