Intel Pro PC camera for $69.98 after rebate (Great deal!)

Sam's Club has a $30 rebate on the Intel Pro PC USB camera. It sells there for $99.98 before rebate.

This is a great deal on a very high-quality camera. It's going for $100+ everywhere else. I finally junked my logitech quickcams after I saw the quality of this one.

Is this any better than the non-pro PC camera?

The Pro model supposedly has better low light (ie. most computer rooms, I'd guess) than most other PC cameras.

It does work a lot better than the QuickCam express in low light.

Also, Intel has finally agreed to support Windows 2000. Beta drivers are available from support.intel.com.

I'd also check out the 3Com webcam. It's a little pricier, but is supposedly one of the best.

It does work well... however, has anyone else notice that you can't use the "large" setting(highest resolution) on Netmeeting with this camera? Kodak 325 didn't work either... just the medium setting.

Funny thing is my QuickCam VC, which is way older and cheaper, works in the "large" setting, when using Netmeeting.

Can anyone suggest a different Video Conferencing medium that's free? Netmeeting can't have video conferencing with more than two people(what kind of "conference" is that?). Does anyone know of a better software? IP-based would be good...

For what it's worth....

I have the 3Com homeconnect USB camera....using WebCam32 software....

It's great....even done some excellent macro photos of my own eyeball...neato.
Great in low light too.

From what I remember, it is better than the Intel Pro model....look around....

Edit: Oh yeah, it's supported Windows 2000 Pro for a long time now....

that's great the Intel is making beta drivers in response to customers....it's great seeing a company looking out for it's consumers....i actually own the Intel PC Camera Pro USB myself...got it through the WIRED magazine deal...works great, pretty good for only 12$...

Last friday ie BLACK FRIDAY I went to staples in Raleigh NC....

Picked up

TWO IBM PC cameras.. Free after 40$ rebate

a 42x cd rom $9 after rebate

32 mg pny pc100 memory $9 after rebate

a 32bit 1200x600 memorex scanner $9 after rebate

and a gamepad controler .. instant rebate for 9.62 when it only cost 8.52.. gave me $1.10 to use on stamps for other rebates!!!!
