What are the numbers on mobile?

And where did you get the 40% figure for tablets from? Doesn't at all seem to match reality of what's available in the stores.

Just look at tablet shipments and the baytrails under contra revenue.

It sure does. Baytrail is all over the place in tablets.

Look at newegg, 465 tablets in new condition and 263 features an Intel CPU.

Tablet volumes are slowing down, not to mention 2014 was only ~180M when Mobile Phone volume was more than 1.2B.

Of those ~180M Tablets only 10-11% was Windows based.

x86 and Windows won yet again. And it will keep doing so.

You do know that the majority of Intel's tablet sales are Android right? They have sold nothing on Windows, outside of Surface even though that is growing. I'm actually getting a bit concerned that the talk of Intel trying to raise prices on Cherry Trail is true and that's why it is MIA.

The funny thing is after reading MS's financial results I'm getting the impression that Intel is more dependent on Windows than MS is. MS is making a killing on Office 365 and the other cloud service offerings.

A lot of latest tablet designs are windows based, but saying that x86 and windows won the tablet market is far from reality.

ps: ohh yes, it still remains to been seen if Intel will be able to maintain or expand its market share without contra revenue

The only ARM Windows left is the smartphone one. The tablet is already x86 only with Windows 10.

x86 and Windows won yet again. And it will keep doing so.

It's only tablets which are >=8" which have to be x86. 7" and under will run the phone version of the OS (no desktop apps), which means they can be ARM.

Keep in mind that you're talking to someone who's pessimistic when it comes to every single company on the planet except for one...

Makes sence, DDR4 and budget processors does not really mix right now. 1150 and Haswell gona remain as the budget option for a while.

Mini-tablets that use the phone OS can be ARM. But it really depends on what OEMs choose.

Isn't it funny how Intel only gains significant traction when the market decreases?

I am assuming this is what you said-

Tablet market growth as in: % growth of volume sold annum
Tablet market: Total people in the world with Tablets

Manufacturers hardly care about the second. If you have a product, and everyone in the world has one, and your sales fall to zero, your company gets bankrupt.

Not sure what tablet shipments have to do in a skylake thread, except perhaps to find some FUD to spread about intel, but here are the quarterly statistics.

quarterly tablet sales since 2010. Q414 was the second highest quarter ever, although shipments have basically reached a plateau. There is no indications of a declining market there, although the rate of growth has plateaued, but that is hardly a declining market.

The tablet market is not shrinking, the increase percentage is shrinking.
When we had 50% increase year over year two years ago, it is only 10-15% in 2014.

Pretty sure the market will be flat to down this year.

Just wait a year when the Smart Phatches start killing off the Phablets. Why carry around a 6" phone when you can have a 8" x 3.5" Phatch strapped to each arm. Ultra-wide 4K screen makes every tweet a cinematic experience. Optional Phatch wings will make 8K 3D VR the biggest sling ever.

With 90 days between charges, the 5.5kg battery packs make every movement a workout - getting fit while being hip has never been so easy.

It's a mobile device computing enthusiasts can finally get excited about. Using full body flexible water cooling kits, insane overclocking on mobile will be available with the special edition Skylake-KM processors. Imagine Folding on the Go. How hot is that?

You'll want to run like the wind. No, really. Without the optional GT mobile edition fan array, body radiators will exceed 95ºc. Learn up close and personal what thermal density really means.

The Phuture is the Phatch.
