This was literally posted just a couple of posts ago...... Learn to read.

No, only the chart was posted. The link with it was not to an English site, so I couldn't tell what it said about the chart.

My link is a different site commenting on the chart.

I can read just fine, thanks.

People do that all the time here anyway, why single me out?

There are many threads here covering the same topics, with the same links posted in them

That means not much.

Desktop: Core i7 4790K
Mobile: Core i7 4950HQ

Also, the only difference between Core i7 4950HQ and Core i7 4850HQ are 100MHz CPU and GPU clocks. Although later models like Core i7 4980HQ and Core i7 4870HQ increased the difference to a respectable 300MHz CPU and 100MHz GPU.

Thanks!

Surface Pro 4 might come with Skylake-U instead of Broadwell-U, unless they plan to launch it by the time Windows 10 arrives.

Thought ddr4 was quad channel?
Channels are determined by the number of memory controllers, basically. That's determined on an SoC level.

Mainstream platforms will support up to two. HEDT will support four.

I wonder what they mean by the new memory architecture. They are kind of suggesting it would be nonvolatile, which would be fantastic if true.

I really, really hope server Skylake not arriving until later in 2017 doesn't mean more than the 2H 2016 wait we're already looking at for HEDT.

If the roadmap proves accurate, you can see the 1S workstation Broadwell release at 2016, and 1S Skylake release at ~mid 2017.

1S Workstation is exactly HEDT.

Let's not rush into conclusions. Looking at the actual presentation reveals a bit more.

IMDB capacity increased vs. the previous generation, 1.5TB max DRAM vs. 6TB with Apache Pass

So "Apache Pass" is the key. Going a bit further...

Example DIMM population shown; please look up Apache Pass customer collateral for specific rules on DDR4/Apache Pass DIMM populations

Apache Pass could be simply a next generation "Jordan Creek" buffer. At this point it looks no more than greatly expanded memory capacity, allowing servers to have code in memory whereas previously it would have been in storage(they compare with NAND but could be HDDs too).

I am liking this:

-QuickAssist encryption and compression offloads
-Skylake+ FPGA
-Cannonlake graphics & media transcode

Under "Optional Integrated Accelerators"

Originally, they were talking about Haswell being the generation with FPGAs and integrated accelerators.

Also its interesting that they think of "Cannonlake graphics & media transcode". Something special is happening here. Perhaps with Cannonlake successor, the iGPU would be general purpose enough to use it as an accelerator. Maybe a real "Larrabee" with Airmont cores?

That's what I'm worried about. Old roadmaps talked about Skylake in 1S is 2H 2016, but lately all I've seen is Broadwell-E in 1Q 2016. Given how quick Broadwell is being replaced on the desktop I was hoping we'd still see SL-E in 2016, but that's not looking promising.

Intel is getting worse about aligning HEDT and DT, not better. We'll be on CannonLake Refresh by the time SL-E rolls around.

Looks like Intel wants to unify the E5 and E7 lines, which affects HEDT because its based on E5.

Although that means no release until 2017, it also means you get some benefits of the E5/E7 platforms. While they won't put Storm Lake in there, maybe we'll get 1/10G Ethernet controller on the PCH and FPGA accelerators on the chip.
