If he was able to go 5.0GHz on all 10 cores under a 280mm AIO...my original thought of going 5.0GHz on all 8 cores of a 7820x under my push/pull h115i may actually be doable. Exciting stuff.

and 90 degree! You get 4.5~4.7 ghz with reasonable temp depend on silicon lottery

RAM prices are estimated to continue to go up throughout 2017, sorry 32 costs €500 here... Hence I'm going for 16 which is near €300 - still way overpriced!!

Basically I am waiting with purchasing an X299 system for reviews, possible price drops, BIOS maturity (I don't like reconfiguring my overclock on a regular basis) etc.

A beautiful board, outside of my price range though:

I don't know much about the TUF line. I really wanted to go with a Rampage board, but both x299 versions are EATX and I was hoping to go with a mid-tower this time rather than a huge case like my current Cosmos S or the Xigmatek Elysium my dual Xeon server resides in.

The TUF line stands, AFAIK, for sturdiness and longevity and they're build as such, military specs and stuff (whatever that means). They OC as well as anything else and cost the same as rampage boards, generally. They seem to stand right next to the rampage series but outside the ROG series. If I were to describe the line in one encompassing word: solid.

They are both nice looking board w/lots of features. I generally prefer understated looks of the Mark 2. Overclocking ability and stability have always been the most important capability for me.

For what it's worth, I've been using a Sabertooth P67 since November 2011. It's part of the TUF line. They're basically high end ROG level boards without the bling and useless features (Well, the "thermal armor" certainly fits that description and they've gotten somewhat bloated again with the years and generations...), still, I wish ASUS made more of these.

It's built like a tank with an overkill VRM. It's been running my 2500k @ 4.5GHz 1.3v since day one from long idle with C states enabled (C1E through C6) up to synthetic P95/linpack AVX loads pushing the CPU above 120w, and has no problems supporting 5-5.2GHz 1.45-1.55v for quick benchmark runs on the same CPU. It even made it into windows at 5.35GHz! (Air cooled)

Never had any problems, stable as a rock. I might be able to trade my 2500k for a 3770k + some $ on top, if so I'll run this board until it outright stops working. That might be forever at this rate. I'll delid that thing as soon as I get it.

As for SKL-X overclocking, that's a great result! Still it is a pre tested CPU, it could be cherry picked or not. We'll see where the average chip lands, but it sure looks like it'll be back to HSW-E overclocking if not better.

This is the Geekbench 4 data I collected on the Kaby Lake Y chips in the 12" Retina MacBooks. There are no 2017 i7 results, and the P8400 is just what my current laptop has.

Quoting der8auer for those of you too lazy to watch the video.

Keep in mind that this chip was already pre-tested so it's already a really good CPU. On average CPU you might be able to get 4.7-4.8 GHz if you delidded it and on a pre tested CPU 5 GHz should be possible.

So 4.7 GHz if you delid but sadly I don't get free CPUs which I can test on and destroy if delid fails. So delid is not a valid argument. This means without delid you will reach maybe 4.5 ghz with a good AIO and 4.3 Ghz with tower cooler. 4.3 Ghz isn't that much more what the competition will offer but with more threads and PCIe lanes.

der8auer posted about this in the video comments as well. Based on what he said so far:

- 4.6-4.8 GHz average with a proper cooler (no delid)
- 4.8 GHz with a good chip + Corsair (280 mm) AIO (no delid)
- 4.9 GHz with a very very good chip (no delid)
- 4.7-4.8 GHz average with delid
- 5.0 GHz with a good chip + Corsair (280 mm) AIO (delid)
- 5.1 GHz with a very very good chip + custom water (delid)

So 4.6 - 4.8 will probably be pretty regular for custom loops without delidding then?
Yes that should be pretty average without delidding if you have a proper cooler

I thought the NDA on Skylake-X was lifted today. Guess that leak was wrong.

I know right! I rushed home ready to be flooded by reviews. I found 0. Must be a time thing?

I'd be well happy with 4.5 or even 4.6 depending on the voltage/temp. on the 8C/10C with no delid and my current beefy AIO.

What the hell? NDA lifted today and not a single review. The day the Ryzen NDA was lifted, the internet was absolutely flooded and I had hours and hours of reading to do (including leaks a bit early).

Hopefully just time zones messing with me...

We'll see. A particular Intel insider didn't receive the reviewer's guide up until yesterday, which I find strange if NDA is up today. But TBH, if reviews are out today I wouldn't expect them to show up before Intel's PC Gaming Show @ E3 2017 starts (in 2 hours and 21 minutes). Also, this:

Certainly possible. I read June 12 in multiple places though, when the CPUs were announced. der8auer's testing is probably good enough for me to preorder the 8c though (can't afford the 10c which will be WAY over $1000 here in Canada). I'm just impatient and excited to finally be (probably) building a new PC after 6 years

If by paper launch you mean the obscene amount of money you have to pay for some of these, then sure

Taking a leaf from Intel's Computex non-presentation...

The reviews are TBD, with the Top of the line TDB core i9 chip running at TBD GHz having an IPC of TBD that of Kabylake.

Price is TBD, Performance is TBD and Price/Performance is TBD (although expectation is that the first will be eye-watering, the second extremely good and the third disheartening).
