So... AMD world record is still unbreakable... even they didn't defeat their own godlike Celeron... that is on Clock Speed Number of course.

BTW, investigating on WCCF tech, found that the models are:
- Celeron 3955U - 2 Ghz -15 w
- Celeron 3855U - 1.6 Ghz - 15 w
Nothing weird with those two... and they should add some discrete card in order to show up how decent they are...

Ok, going to the serious things, we saw the P tier chips
- Ci3 6098P - 2/4 - 3.6 Ghz - Igpu 510
- Ci5 6402P - 4/4 - 2.8 Ghz - Turbo 3.4 Ghz - Igpu 510

Maybe they are rejected i7s or are made for embebbed machines. Even they can go soldered and only for MACs

And then.. here comes the DU chips Broadwell and Skylake
- Ci5 5200 DU - 2.2 Ghz
- Ci7 5500 DU - 2.4 Ghz (for me the weirdest chip available)
- Ci5 6198 DU - 2.3 Ghz
- Ci7 6498 DU - 2.5 Ghz

Even fewer info has those chips, making them the mistery of Intel. We know that U tier is for ULV, but... what are the D ones? Desktop targeted chips?

I keep hearing that 1.5v should work, some motherboards do offer compatibility in their memory support but i guess that is boards undervolting it?Who knows at this point.

With all the ass Skylake is kicking all over the place,i would love to see some Celeron overclocking. The 300A overclockers may just rejoice at the idea of overclocking another Celeron.

Skylake bringing out any $45-$50 Celeron options soon or is the buy in really starting at $65 for a cpu for a while?

Its really up to the motherboard manufacturer implementation, they are offering o/c for non K processors, so you just have to wait for a good DDR3 mobo to come out.

I was planning to build a skylake pc with i5 6600k but after reading about bclk oc my mind is split between 6600k and 6500 with bclk. What would you recommend me (considering the problems that come with these beta bioses)? Would these problems be fixed nd released as official bios updates? What is Intel planning to do about it?

PS: I'm a graphic designer and cg artist working with softwares like photoshop, illustrator, 3ds max, etc ... . Would the screwed AVX cause problem to me if I overclock i5 6500 with non-K bioses?

If you can afford it, get the 6600K. Multiplier overclocking is nice and easy.

Thank you for the answer. I have to really stretch my budget to do so that's why I'm asking. What about the AVX problem that comes with bclk overclocking? Will it affect the performance of photoshop, 3ds max and programs like that?

I'm not sure if those programs have been updated to utilize AVX instructions, but longer-term I'd expect those instructions to become more widely used in software.

what are the rumours in the industry about these new bioses? Will they release official versions of them at some point (without the problems that these beta ones have) or Intel is already stepping forward?

If I had to bet on it, I'd bet on official BIOSes with BCLK OC'ing support. Intel would be really scummy to pull the rug out from under customers/motherboard makers like that.

They're selling product.. Why would they?

Exactly. One could argue that "oh, Intel wants people to pay more for the 'K' SKUs" but I think this thinking is flawed. People will buy what they can afford and it's good to give people more value for their dollar if possible, especially since it costs Intel nothing to let people overclock BCLK.

If the problems with iGPU, temperature sensor, AVX and other problems resolve after future bios updates, the 6600k and 6700k become kind of rubbish with their high pricetag. What do you think about that?

Rule #1:

You don't overclock the machine that puts food on the table.

With apparent yield problems on K series, other options exist to still get the consumer to a new UArch.. Gets the money out of their pocket now, and again later (should they choose to upgrade CPU)..

If this had happened in the Haswell generation, everyone could use a Xeon E3 1245V3 as a drop in replacement for a Ci7 4770/4770K, at least if they were willing to sacrifice overclock in the latter case. Currently, its a joke that you can get Xeons E3 1230V5 and 1245V5 for 2/3 the price of the Ci7 6700K. Depending on how good the overclockable C232/C236 Motherboards are, you may as well forget that the 6700K ever existed.

So much this. I will never understand the big deal with them.

I want to know how much additional performance I can get with a reasonable cooling setup running 24/7.

If you are going to run within Intel specification that may not be much.

Every test out of Intel spec is a potential suicide run until enough data is gathered to have a better idea of what can and cannot be done.

Long live the suicide run.

Hah! These suicide runs are honestly done by people who just enjoy pushing the limits and I respect that, but they're 100% useless to me as just some dude who wants to get more performance than what he paid for

Also, Intel and AMD use overclocker "suicide runs" to promote the overclockability of their products. It's may seem strange but apparently it works well enough that professional overclockers can actually make a living!

Here are some Google Translated review and unboxing of the new ASUS E3 PRO GAMING V5 for Xeons E3 V5.

This brings me back good memories of the Socket 939 Opterons era, just before AMD got Conroed'.

Maybe supply is improving. Just got an e-mail from my local microcenter that 6700k is back in stock. Lets see if that lasts or if they sell out again.
