It's Intel's job to please their shareholders, even if it means sodomizing their customers.
That's a fair point. I imagine most are still using Haswell Refresh at this point, and if the move is made to go to 10, going to Skylake at the same time makes sense. But there's no guarantee that 10 is going to get any kind of corporate adoption so unless Intel wants to sell Haswell Refresh until 2020 Intel can't just abandon 7 so quickly even if MS is trying their hardest to force 10 down people's throats.
Actually, I expect that most 7 users are on Nehalem or Sandy Bridge machines, or something of those generations. Most new hardware buyers are going to be getting a new OS license. Us enthusiasts are anomolous.
