Does this mean Kaby Lake E5 won't come before mid 2018?Xeon E5 v5 (Purley) is already shipping to select customers. General availability in middle of 2017.
My understanding is that the OP specifically asked for Kaby Lake E5.Regarding Skylake-X / Kaby Lake-X and the next enthusiast platform (HEDT) - DigiTimes says Intel will debut them in Q3-2017, hinting at Gamescom in August.
I'm starting to wonder if Kaby Lake E5 makes any sense, after it's "only" an implementation/process tweak to reach higher frequencies. The link you provide to wccftech indeed doesn't mention such a chip, and jumps from Skylake EP in 1H 2017 to Cannonlake EP in 2018.
