Not to mention that same website has 7600K selling for 250$... 4 real cores, same Turbo as i3's base, also fully unlocked. 200$ for 2C/4T is a rip-off when you see what hovers in the similar price range.

edit: crashtech beat me to it.

Wondering if I should wait til next year's "tick" to upgrade.

I think it'll be more than a year for 10nm on the desktop (an then, only if you want to save on power). The next major uArch improvement is at least 2 years off. So, decided how long you want to wait. If it's not 2+ years, then upgrade to KBL.

Damn it's tempting. I feel like my first gen i7 is going on its last legs. (random moments of no post). Idk if I can justify $700-$750 with cpu/mobo/ram/cooler though.

Hey guys, Newegg just got the i3 7350k in today and its selling for $199.99.. Isn't that a tad much fo an i3? I thought it was gonna be like $150-$175..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...9117772&cm_re=i3_7350k-_-19-117-772-_-Product

Yes, it's too much at current pricing. The i3-7320 is also a little high at $169.99. There's little reason to get the higher priced i3s when the i5s start at $199.99, unless you're on a very strict budget... in which case the Pentiums start looking like a much better value.

Uff lol.

Is the i7 worth $100 over the i5?

I think so. The i5, other than the K designation is at the lowest part of the quad core perf/$ curve. It doesn't look like you are upgrading every 1 or 2 years.

I wouldn't upgrade my 2600K to a 7700K, but 2600K was a decent advancement from 1st Gen i7 so I've got few years compared to you. Now if you wanted to spend 250 for the i5, that's different. We can see 4 cores using its HT in most games in the near future, which means the gain from your i7 will be less due to that. And reselling prices will be better.

Now I doubt 6 and 8 cores having HT will ever be taken advantage of but that's off topic.

Newegg is gouging, big time.

INB4 It's not an essential good therefore it's not gouging & Prices on Ark are just Intel estimates & Newegg is just charging what the market will bear

Unless would be buyers absolutely needed the 4K they should have gone in on those sub $200 6600K's the last few months.

Well I bought a Strix Z270G. My i5 6500 will suffice for now. It will be nice to use faster memory speeds. I'm thinking maybe some time in march I'll get a new CPU. I hope it fits in my new ($200) motherboard.

ComputerBase tested the long awaited Pentium with HT support. Basically the same performance as a Core i3-6100 (97%) for $64 MSRP!

ComputerBase: Intel Pentium G4560 Tested

- Applications Performance (Windows):
15% faster than $90 FX-6300
21% faster than $60 Pentium G4400 (predecessor)
23% faster than $149 A10-7890K

- Gaming Performance (1080P):
16% faster than $89 FX-6300
26% faster than $60 Pentium G4400 (predecessor)
26% faster than $149 A10-7890K

Ps: That's overall, but in games like GTA V it delivered almost 3x Pentium G4400's minimum framerates.

- Fury X Tests: Ahead of all AMD CPUs/APUs in Total War: Attila and The Witcher 3
- GTX 980 Ti SLI Tests: 24-45% faster than FX-6300

- 23W idle/load difference, down to as low as 16W with a 0.15V undervolt

ComputerBase said:
The 97 percent increase is only one test, but a lot of other applications are also staggered, which are also massively benefiting from the two additional threads and at the same time higher clock speed and faster memory. The GTA V game, for example, increases by 86 percent, Assassin's Creed by 60 percent, TrueCrypt encryption software is 50 percent faster, and music is converted 30 percent faster. If an application does not benefit from the more threads, the power gain drops to only six to eight percent - there it comes then only over the clock and the faster DDR4 memory.

Google translate says, "The Pentium can also decode HEVC (H.265) in the Main 10 profile up to Ultra HD in hardware."

and

"The Pentium G46xx is only missing AVX 2.0 (and a few Megahertz clock) To be a Core i3."

Dropped to $189.99 now and it's not even released yet,it will drop to ark prices at some time after it gets properly released.
Errrr!! You beat me to it lol . Not sure if i should snag one now or not. With that price drop and my saved up egg points I could get one for around $170 shipped now.Thats alot better then the $200 price tag from yesterday.Or do I wait the 2 weeks and get a 7700k? I have a i3 6300 at 3.8 right now so would a 7350k overclocked to 4.8-5.2GHz be that huge of an improvement enough for me over an i3 6300? Its being used right now as an all in one media and game center for the living room and once a week I use it to rip and encode my dvd and blu-rays to MKV and AVI-HD which never used more then 2 core any ways..
