Kinda hoping that we see more leaks soon. If the 8700k is getting released early next month you would think there are a lot of them floating around in warehouses at this point.
If it is in fact going to be SOLD in 3 weeks, not only would I expect the ability to pre-order the CPUs and motherboards, I'd definitely expect reviews by some of the big sites.
It's really weird that we are not seing shit yet

Regardless if these are real or not, why would anyone buy $2000 cpu to play games ? And an 8700K would probably equal or best these at less than 1/4th the cost.

Yeah, I call bull. Skylake-X has been consistently slower than Kaby Lake in gaming. A larger chip of the same principles won't change that.

They couldn't have picked a worse game to benchmark with than PUBG. Those 200FPS peaks were of such a short duration in the video that it's hard to make sense of the data. They should have collected the data and cleaned it up instead of posting a visual inspection.

He compared someone else's results with his own results. (He did use same graphical settings) 7700k and 1800x results are with 3200mhz memory and 1080ti on stock while his rigs also had 4000mhz memory and 100+500 overclock on Titan Xp.

Notice how none of your post has anything to do with AMD, but somehow someway for some reason the regular defense team came out at full force.

More trolling. It's still not allowed.

What if you want to play games sometimes, and do other things that require a lot of cores/threads at other times? Or what if you want to do multiple things (i.e. gaming + streaming + perhaps other stuff) at the same time?

Mega-tasking, you mean?

Ryzen is not an
Intel Skylake / Kaby Lake / Coffee Lake
cpu.

I had to LOL at this comment.

Quite frankly the amount of AMD talk in an Intel CPU thread is surprising to me, I guess the moderators here let a lot of the AMD vs Intel stuff go (not telling you how to do your jobs fwiw, just an observation).

To be fair if money wasn't a factor and you wanted the best of both worlds in terms of 'megatasking' and gaming performance then an i9 79xx chip would be a no brainer. We don't live in a world of unlimited funds though... at least most of us don't!

Large L3 cache did make a difference on 5960X and 6950X in a few cases in games. But yeah, diminishing returns.

Anyway Coffeelake would appear to make more sense for your average desktop gamer.

Yep. Why not get a 6c cl for high freq gaming and an 32c epyc for your real work? If you are to fork out 2000 for a cpu 350 extra makes no difference. Especially as you can tailor ram to the specific need eg low latency high freq for the gaming vs high capacity for the pro rig. PUBL is a programming mess and a oc cl 6c with low latency ram will beat any sklx hands down. At framerates that is very perceptible. Its a dip fest game. People throwing smoke grenades just to lower opponents fps. Lol

I used to spam the Phoenix Cannon in Descent II to make peoples' framerates drop for easy kills. Dirty pool, but it worked, especially on people still trying to use 486s and Overdrive chips.

Cannon Lake-S was supposed to have 8 cores on 10nm, but it was cancelled due to the 10nm issues. Coffee was added to the roadmap years ago as a stopgap.

This, "AMD is the only reason we get good stuff from Intel" meme is getting real old, real fast.
Sometimes it is the reason we get new things. In this case I think so.
This is in part because Intels cpus were already good enough core count wise.

I think where those argument turns in to straight up idiocy, is when people argue Intel stagnated growth and grew complacent.

Intel has zero reason to not push their cpus as fast as possible.
They definitely have a reason to not give you free cores.

Intel has always been pushing performance just because they don't want to destroy their margins by giving away more cores unnecessarily doesn't mean they aren't pushing performance.

Intel, and most companies want to get as much revenue as possible with as little investment as possible (in the long term of course)
That's companies 101.

Now, you may be lucky to buy the time they gave you "a lot of bang for your buck" (i5 2500k comes to mind) or you may but the shitty upgrades.
All companies are the same, they couldn't care less about you just as long the figures go well. They do market research to know just how much "bullshit" customers are willing to take and play with those values
