What a beast.
Looks like someone has really been getting their photoshop on....lol
I thought that they were going to release the "mainstream" 8C/16T CPUs on 10nm(+? ++? +++?)
If they are going to "take their time" with 10nm and friends, and release ANOTHER CoffeeLake CPU, this time with 8 cores, rather than 6, with HT, then I guess I could forgive them slightly, for making Z370 CFL-only, as there will apparently be a CFL-R (refresh) 8C/16T CPU to drop in. That wouldn't be too bad, really.
To me, it just wouldn't make sense, to call both the 6C on 14nm++ process, and an 8C on 10nm+ process both "Coffee Lake". You would think that a totally different process, would warrant a new code-name, even if it's the same CPU Cores / same iGPU / same design, basically, just with higher core-count.So that CFL 8C is still 14nm more+ ? Or 10nm
Is there any word on when we think Coffee lake will be availible ?
My motherboard just decided to pack it in and im running a i7-2600k. Its been very good to me but now I am in the sticky situation of:
1. Do I buy a replacement mobo for this chip.
2. Upgrade to a 7700k+mobo+ram which I can get now.
3. Somehow wait it out for Coffelake + mobo + ram
With Destiny 2 around the corner im going to need a running PC
Any suggestions team?
Thanks

Intel Coffee Lake-S 8core 16threads may be available next year.
[XTU][CFL] Add support fir CFL 8,2 core. Add new CPU ID 906EC to CFL platform and treat 906EB as KBL 4+2

[I'm going to do a Floyd Mayweather on this one]
That's so clearly Ice Lake, clear as day.

Two real possibilities for this situation. Either IceLake is compatible with all Z3XX motherboards. Or the mentioned 8 core CPU with Z390 Chipset we will see next year is only CoffeeLake 8C/16T CPU, and IceLake is postponed or will have the same fate as CannonLake.Based on the CPUID it is clearly another Kabylake derivate but with a newer stepping than even CFL 6C.
Kabylake 4C 906E9 (Stepping 9)
Coffeelake 6C 906EAh (Stepping 10)
Coffeelake 8C ??? 906EC (Stepping 12)
Less than a month. Probably 5th October if a screenshot from an ERP system that I saw floating around is accurate. Preorder pricing is already beginning to appear, so it would appear to be accurate:

If a Coffeelake 8C/16T is planned for 2018 then the chances of Icelake in 2018 are almost none.
Hmm, so that's why Intel was teasing Icelake months ago.If a Coffeelake 8C/16T is planned for 2018 then the chances of Icelake in 2018 are almost none.

I have a feeling, that we as enthusiast observers, that don't (*well, most of us) actually work in the industry, and what we see as a simple tick-tock on paper, is actually probably a myriad different hectic schedules, and it was probably a massive undertaking to keeping them all aligned, to give us the illusion of the tick-tock working out just fine. What a mess. Intel future shifted from perfectly aligned tick/tock roadmaps a few years back into unpredictable confusing mess with different overlapping architectures/chipsets/nodes/etc.
