May also want to check cooling/thermal paste. And default voltages. Which mobo did you change to?

Up to you if you want to keep running single channel but after replacing everything else, I would also RMA the CPU. Or get Ryzen 5700X/5600GT and RMA current one then sell it when new one comes back.

AMD systems are extremely stable.
Once you get the matching uefi with the bugs worked out you are correct. There seems to be some issues at launch getting things right and thus pain ensues. Most of the RAM complaints arise when trying to use 4 sticks not just two but, it's possible.

Hopefully your HW issue gets figured out

RE: an anecdote to Windows resiliency.

Believe it or not, my 5900X box has been running the same Windows 7* install and just going with the in place Windows upgrades since Windows 8.

Started it on i7 920 -> i5 2500K -> i7 2700K -> i7 4790K -> Ryzen 9 3900X -> Ryzen 9 5900X

* because, looking back, Win7 to 8.1 Pro, which I did, did remove *most* programs, so I suppose it was more a semi-fresh install than an upgrade?

The switch to AMD from Intel was a matter of booting into safe mode and uninstalling all drivers, then booting with new board NOT connected to internet, installing chipset and all other drivers from fresh downloads off a USB drive.

I have migrated the primary SSD a few times using Macrium.

When bench-marking / stress testing the new stuff, have never had anomalies or performance regressions; the biggest annoyances were related to switching to a 2560x1440 monitor and higher end video card, and having to switch all game resolutions / settings from 1920x1080

Attached is my oldest installed software, yes, it may not prove much, but I have winged it like this (but making backups first!) for the past 10+ years

A little update, even with new memory the crashes came back. I then changed the ssd and a fresh install and the crashes stopped for a while but eventually came back.
They got so bad that i couldn't even get into windows, i changed the motherboard and that fixed the crashes for a while, but they eventually came back also.
So a new ssd, new mobo, new ram and it still crashes on a daily basis mostly during bootup.
One thing i did last week was pull one of the memory modules out, so now i'm running on one stick... no crashes for the last week. Faulty imc on my ryzen 5600x?
Lets see how long this lasts...

Best idea I can think of, get a cheap SSD, like a 256 or 512 SATA, install Win11 Pro on it from a fresh Rufus USB (use Rufus to remove the annoying Win11 install reqs), make another USB with all drivers needed, set BIOS to stock / default, install Windows NOT connected to internet, update drivers from the USB NOT connected to internet, stability test?

Basically sneaker net the whole setup / testing process, maybe Windows update is grabbing something and fudging your system?

My offline install / setup / test is what I do when getting new hardware, the 7800X3D system went through it and got internet connected after it was ready. I do however, gpedit / Group Policy change Windows to keep Win Update from auto updating drivers, it is only allowed to update the OS.

It's down to the CPU or a dodgy PSU.
I'm thinking cpu, since its been stable as soon as i took out the memory stick i'm thinking imc, if it was the psu it would keep crashing. I have a psu tester coming in but doubt that will tell me much, don't think any of the voltages are off.
I'll see if i can borrow a 3600x from a friend.

The same board, friend had one. I'm willing to bet my warranty ran out, its only 3 years.

No OP, only if you didn't format the computer. Even on W10/W11 you will find crashes. Pay attention to don't use a bad quality PSU and build your rig with care.
