Yep the chips need to get to board makers, asia. They then put them on new boards and I am sure test them. Then sell them to dealers and ship to US. Then dealers list and sell them.

So the chips alone are just the first step of a fix. They are no good unless on a board and ready to buy.

I would tend to bet that the big boys get the first lots (i.e. Dells, HP, etc). I would also bet that you would be able to buy the boards first before any board RMA's are honored.

I'm sure they will start making the Sandypoint Cougartown boards after they inventory all the chips they recieved from Intel at the fab plants today.

Quick question, with the SB release is the 1330 chipset going to be dead in the water? I was planning on building a new machine very soon and had planned on X58 but i'm confused as to if the 1330 going to stay on top or if 1156 is going to be the new high end. Thanks for any info.

Yup, all they have to do is glue the new sandypoint bridges to the old boards and they will be ready to ship. I'd expect them in stores by the end of this week at the latest.
