I haven't seen this thread surprisingly. Which of the brands has a lower power consumption, overall performance, better graphics, price, quality, reliability, satisfaction, etc. Pick the overall winner.

They're are umpteen threads here for you to make the decision.

Now, go to the MD thread you created and answer the mods questions as to why you've created these multiple accounts.

What do you think is going to happen a flame war or something?
Yes. And it has happened many, many times on this forum.

This forum is frequented by a few very vocal proponents of both platforms. Threads which had no connection to the AMD/Intel split sometimes derail into flame wars. Starting a thread specifically on the subject is a bad idea.

No offense, but you should lurk a bit more to get a feel for how the forum discussions flow before posting a poll thread on such a caustic topic.

I'm not sure what the point of this is. These aren't sports teams or anything. I have AMD APU's in my HTPC and a couple of my laptops, and Intel in my gaming rig and NAS. I buy what best suits the needs of whatever project I have, at the best price, at the time.

Sometimes it's Intel, sometimes it's AMD. So what?

All fanboyism does is close off options for you and increase price.

Which they stopped adding to their entire Silvermont line-up. Maybe they'll axe it completely in their next i3/i7 line-up for "power savings" too.

By that fantastic logic we should never have Hyperthreading now. Since it was removed when it changed from P4 to C2D/C2Q.

Brand power consumption clearly is lower for AMD. Less letters in the logo make for more power efficient branding.

Brand performance is clearly better for Intel, look at all those corporate contracts.

Brand graphics is a tie for me. Both the AMD and Intel Logos aren't anything special

Brand price - well, AMD is definitely the cheaper brand to buy, but that's because it has less value. I wouldn't buy the AMD brand at the moment, and I don't think anyone can afford to buy the Intel brand.

Brand quality is again dominated by Intel. They marketed even the anti-trust issues away.

Brand reliability - mixed bag. Intel messed up with bad press for the Pentium 4, AMD had the non-throttling K8s (or were those K7s?) that burned away, and recently had the Bulldozer launch which ruined the old FX-sub-brand.

Brand satisfaction - I think both brands have satisfactorily helped sell the products of each of the companies. With the extension of the AMD brand to GPUs, they have clearly deemed that brand more satisfying than the ATI brand.

The overall winner is Apple, because even though they sell Intel chips, none of their massive customer base really cares about it.

I hope this brand analysis was helpful!
