Yeah, the free shipping is what bit me. Since where I live it has to go through other sorting groups before it reaches me, refusing shipment is actually more of a hassle since other people already signed for it and the truck will have left.

Since I have a desktop and no 2.5" to 3.5" adapter bays I think I will be okay with the slightly thinner one and some masking tape

If you made the same mistake I did be prepared to eat around a 36 dollar oopsie in the form of a 15% restocking fee. -_-

Just to update from the "20 in stock," I guess they actually had it in stock. It shipped on Monday, arrived Tuesday and has Win7 successfully installed on it now. It was the SSDSA2MH080G201 version, which currently shows 7 in stock.

Got mine today with 2 day shipping after ordering Friday and a call having to confirm a phone number. Painless process, fast ordering, good experience. Just installed Win7 on a pair of them in raid 0 and it's flying.

EDIT: Oh and I didn't get any adapters so mine are currently flopping around in the bottom of my case. I never move it so it doesn't matter, but I'll probably order a pair of the SilverStone drive adapter when it comes back in stock on Amazon.

you do realize that TRIM isn't supported on RAID right?

Anyone ever bought from costcentral before? I am very leery of sites I've never heard of and want to know before I pull the trigger. Thanks

Me and several others in this thread have already stated successful purchases from cost central.

Their resellerratings reviews are very good.

Any differences between the "C1" and "R5" versions, besides case color?
I see from above that the "01" version is missing the spacer ring, making it 7mm instead of 9.5mm thick.

R5 is retail and comes with a 3.5" bay adapter

C1 is bare drive.

Yeah, but I would imagine Intel will fix their drivers to support it fairly soon. If not, my bi-yearly formats will take care of the trimming for me.

So the drive in the OP is the R5? Why does it say 01 instead of R5? What's the difference between those?

The link I posted above gives the differences between the versions. Here it is again.

http://www.intel.com/cd/channe...nand/feature/index.htm

SSDSA2MH080G201 - 7.0mm thick, no adapter.
SSDSA2MH080G2C1 - 9.5mm thick, no adapter (will fit in laptops).
SSDSA2MH080G2R5 - 9.5mm thick, with 3.5" desktop drive bay adapter to 2.5" SSD adapter bracket, screws, installation guide, and warranty documentation.

And there's no difference in warranty, either - the R5 has the same three year coverage as the 01 and C1.

I can't get over how hard it is to find these drives. No wonder Intel has little incentive to bring out the 320 GB model.

No kidding. However, on one hand I do not see SSD drives that appealing just yet. I have a raid 0 setup and the benchmarks dont justify the limited size and disproportioned pricepoint. I'll probably bite when 320gb drives come out and TRIM is supported in RAID.

When I ordered earlier today, their stock count said 80.

It does burn me that there is price gauging with these (nothing like selling something for
50% markup above retail...) - sure it is supply and demand, but I expected better from Newegg.

I usually think of the egg as having the lowest prices, but I can't do that anymore, I am really disappointed by them "we aren't a nameless warehouse" - except for when you can price gauge.....

Of course this supply issue is temporary because intel had to recall a bunch of the G2s due to bad firmware, so soon market conditions should drop the price to MSRPish, ($229).

good one newegg - destroy your reputation and my loyalty.

GO Costcentral.com, free shipping, price by MSRP and 9.7/10 reseller rating.
