I got an email from Newegg yesterday saying they were instock but they were sold out by the time I got there.

They also raised the price from $229 to $249.

And it looks like Cost Central is sold out already at $341

Your link is to part
SSDSA2MH080G2C1

My part number is SSDSA2MH080G2R5

They are both gen 2 drives. Not sure what the C1 and R5 at the end stand for. Maybe just finish or exterior design. Could also be the difference between Retail packaging and bare drive.

Thanks.

I got the Newegg email too. Also sold out by the time I got there.

I admit I am more excited about getting one of these than I was about my Athlon 500!

256GB is pretty close. Too bad they are ~$700!

But why wish for a paltry 300GB anyway? I want to see 1TB SSDs for $200 by the end of the year (rofl)

Yeah, I got the email for the 160gb from NE.......$650+

I say "Kiss my ass on the price gouge". Not a good deal. Tempting tech but not a good deal.

As far as 256GB. Ewiz has a supertalent 256gb'er that is a rebadged Sammy. I almost got it with BING CB for around $500 but decided to pass and wait for this 160GB Intel G2.

I am going to wait til the prices come out of the stratosphere.

Jumped on 2 of these, finally a non gouged price from a good retailer. Thanks OP!

After placing my order it still says 20 in stock with their "real time checker." Hope these were actually in stock.

I doubt the counter is accurate. It's been "20 in stock" for the last 8+ hours.

Wonderful. They've got until Tuesday to give me a shipping indication, then. I'll give them Monday.

Their real time counter is screwed up. I ordered one when they first hit the market the day I originally posted. They came through and it was delivered no problem. Call their tech support, they are super nice, and they will give you a tracking number. I think their online tracking is broken.

Thanks all.

Well, the counter now says "15 in stock" so at least it's updated. Whether it's *right* remains to be seen, but still.

They called me at 10 AM this morning to confirm my name and address. They also said it would be shipping today.

I got the SSDSA2MH080G201 for $235 since the R5 was out of stock. The 01 is 7.0mm thick vs the C1 and R5 which are 9.5mm thick but that shouldn't make a difference since I am going to tape it inside my tower =P.

But I don't think the 7mm will work in laptops. Intel's supposed to have a "rim" that goes around the body that makes it 9.5mm.

Had to order another one since the one I bought had already been invoiced - they've got 243 of the "C1" in stock now. I would HIGHLY recommend buying the "C1" since you can just remove the rim if you want the drive as a 7.0mm.

Here's the link to the C1 version: http://www.costcentral.com/pro...SA2MH080G2C1/10898198/

Their customer support says if you get the 7mm version and *wanted* the 9.5mm - and it's already invoiced or shipped, refuse shipping and order the "C1" version. I just hope the card invoice doesn't come before the drives do.

Dang, I should of waiting until Monday to order.

Since I don't plan on using it in a laptop (I don't even own one) it shouldn't affect me, although the rim could be bought on ebay or somewhere cheap if I ever have a need for it I guess.

I somehow doubt Intel sells the rim. You might be able to contact and ask to buy one...but that's just downtime.

C1 version has free shipping, too. =/
