I'll confess: I bit despite the questionable vendor. Ordered the Xeon E3110 for $205ish = $195 after the discount code + $7 postage (FedEx Ground) + $3 'express order processing' fee. I opted for the latter because I'd know within a day whether they were going to ship or not (a disappointed punter on some ratings site complained that moogr.com never shipped his order). I felt this was especially imperative considering the slender inventories of Wolfdales at most retailers.

Well, I ordered round noon on the 19th, and the item appears to have departed the FedEx base on the morning of the 20th. As it's ground transport, I'm not scheduled to receive my package before the 25th. So we'll see next week if this is a bona fide deal or not. The Wolfdale is all I need to complete my new system build (Abit IP35-E, ASUS EN9600GT, Antec Neo HE 500W...). Pray that none of my parts are DOA or incompatible...

COUPON - "marchmadness"

You could have at least posted all your crap under one thread so it's not so obvious you're just a shill. I'll pass on this personally, GL to those who give them your money though... good deal if they're legit.

i agree with this as well. why make two separate posts for basically the same site/deal

at least he could have kept under 'one roof'

yeah let us know if eveything is in order. I take it the OP might be the company owner or related to the company thus he's kept on post on this same company repeatedly.

I have exchanged PMs with the OP and he has assured me he's not related to the website in any way. he said he picked up on the deal at hardforums from this here

Jah, I believe the fellow on this forum (as well as others) who's associated with the company is 'byronm'. It is a bit frightening to see how little comes up on a Google search, but if they're a new firm, there's not much they can do about that right now. I suppose if I were a new retailer, I would probably follow the same strategy: offer fairly significant discounts to win initial customers. For some reason I find it reassuring, actually, that the retailer doesn't seem to have any E8400s in stock.

A punter on Hard|Forum remarked that the Xeon seems to use more power (than the E8400) at idle, which is a little distressing to hear, since realistically my cpu will be idling most of the time. Well, $205 is still the best deal I can find on a 3 GHz Wolfdale, presuming the transaction turns out well. I'll know in a few more days.

Indeed, my worry isn't that they'll take the money and run. I do think they're a real vendor; it's their reliability and service that concern me. Newegg doesn't offer the lowest prices universally, but they are a tried and trusted brand: I and many others have experienced the positive side of Newegg service when things go wrong with our orders. For example, when I bought my Antec P182, UPS was unable to deliver on three attempts and sent it back to Newegg without giving me a chance to pick up. Newegg offered to let me re-order at the discounted price (despite the promotion being over) and posted the new order to me overnight without charge.

My fear with this vendor was that they might not actually have any E3110s left in stock (ie poor inventory reporting), and I'd be left waiting for the next shipment, which might be weeks away. That's partly why I paid the $3 for 'express order processing': I'd know within the day whether I was going to be stood up. I remain fearful that something awkward might happen: for example, receiving OEM rather than retail, getting an 'open box' chip, warranty issues (when I bought the chip, in one area the site described the warranty as 3-year (retail), another area stated 1 year, eh?), etc. I could always seek amends, but at a certain point it's not worth saving $20 to 30 if you have to suffer that much grief.

I went with the express order processing as well.

So when I try to check out I'm not given FedEx or UPS Ground as a shipping option, the cheapest is FedEx 2day which is $27. :Q According to the item page FedEx Ground is $6.99 to my zip code but it doesn't show up when I order

If you use their standard checkout instead of google it shows up for 6.99. When I tried it with the google check out it wasnt available AND the coupon code/price disappeared for some reason. Oh well....since a friend needed my E8400 I got from microcenter desperately and I agreed to sell it to him I guess I'll take a shot at this processor and hope for the best.

ya someone on hard forum posted that they only offer 2nd day fedex for google checkout, that's kinda weird, but another good deal is if you use the coupon code on a Q6600 which brings it down to 215.99 B4 shipping

I ordered a e3110 and it's already on the way. Hopefully an empty box doesn't show up. I'll report back when it shows up.

When did you place the order? I did yesterday afternoon and my tracking from their site still says "in process".
