There is a high corrolation between Intellegence and Success (not Happiness), however we cannot imply causation (%60)

If your assumption is correct, this would explain your current miserable state of mind.

No. There is a negative correlation between intelligence and happiness. It is ignorance that brings bliss.

Isn't that wisdom vs. happiness?

I find that more intelligent people tend to be more unhappy. Higher rates of depression, etc. I agree with Vic, ignorance is bliss.

Knowing stuff doesn't mean intelligence, it just means you are knowledgeble, and willing to learn.
Ignorance doesn't mean you are really dumb either, it just means you dont have a lot of info stored in your head.

The ability to apply logic into problem solving is true intelligence. I have seen people that play chess making moves that makes you wonder "how the hell did he thought of that"?yet they don't really do well in real life. Now those people are truely intelligent, but they dont really apply themselves in real life, think what they coulda of done if they had a phd in rocket science.

Well, a specific case likie excellent chess playing coupled with a lack of social skills is symptomatic of things like autism. That isn't related to wether or not they are applying themselves.

Exactly. On this note, some behavioralists have come up with the concept of "EQ" or Emotional Quotient as opposed to IQ. It is people with high EQ's that tend to do better in life and be happier than people who just have high IQ's. There is more than just knowing what to do, you have to have the fortitude to actually do it.
In fact, it is generally believed that the prison population has a higher average IQ than society at large.

For me there's a negative correllation. I find it very depressing how many stupid people populate the world, and how their numbers & proportion to those with brains is skyrocketing.

A comment from my history/philosophy teacher:

"The kind of skills I try to teach you--like critical thinking--are the kind of things that tend to make people miserable."

no, being too smart sucks. If you're too smart, chances that you're going crazy are also higher. And that's proven.

This is why alcohol was invented. So that those unlucky few cursed with intelligence could burn away those extra brain cells to reach the level of blissful ineptitude of everyone else.
