Dave, if the whole running for office doesn't turn out as you wish, maybe stand-up comedy will do.

Are there any accounts from 2000 years ago record cold in that part of the world?

Next they are going to say Jesus fed the masses by ordering takeout.

Faith and belief go where science can't .

Believe it or not, you can believe in Jesus and still accept science.

Anyone every think that maybe the earth is billions of years old and there were millions of extinct species only because God was trying out different things?

That's certainly possible. Of course that's the difference between faith and religion.

This thread gets back on topic or gets locked.

Politics has nothing to do with the subject.

Dave:
Not all schools are controlled by political views and those that "may" be influenced are done ALL (not 1) sides of the spectrum.
================================================

Very cool input response and questions raised.

I'll add this in my Evolution thread.

Dave

Questions raised:

Is there separation of Church and State in regards to schools?

Is there or is there not a push by Religion to influence Science especially in schools?

The fact of the Evolution classes being eliminated in favor of Intelligent Design clearly shows religion certainly is a major factor in U.S. schools now.

Can anyone show that Liberals or Democrats are putting Intelligent Design in favor of Evolution? I don't think so.

Does anyone actually believe schools are NOT controlled by Political views?

I'm only commenting on the topic, not the actual post.

Intelligent Design/Evolution War
Only fools say it is one or the other.

Scientist Says Jesus May Have Walked On Rare Ice Float
Ice in a Sea that is on a latitude south of Mexico City in an area that is now surrounded by deserts. Wow, global warming has sure slowed up in the past 2000 years.

Ahhh, how does a scientist proposing Jesus could've walked on ice have anything at all to do with the persistent problem of creationism?

It's showing that even the most fantastical stories in the Bible could potentially be explained by science, thus showing that all the fantasy and magic of the Bible is just that, fantasy!

Good point!
I was raised as a brainwashed Catholic child; thankfully I have grown out of that! I believe in spirituality not organzed religion. I was taught that the bible was the "word of God" and all of these things really happened. The bible is just that - stories made up to give the masses something to believe in.

Do not confuse science with agenda-oriented pseudoscience (or just plain bad journalism), nor forget that most of the stories in the Bible are supposed to be just that... stories.

Let's get back on topic. ID vrs Evolution is not the question. Evolution is our past and intelligent design will be our future, our design. What will we become?

Intelligent Design is just another religous belief promoted by those trying to disguise it as science. That's what the courts have said.

These are the same people who think God is a big, caucasian white guy with a beard sitting on a throne and wearing sandals.

There are other religions on this planet that don't believe in anything remotley like creationism or intelligent design.

Science is the pursuit of knowledge, religion is the stubborn belief in literal truth. Big difference.

4-20-2006 Georgia OKs Bible Classes, Commandments

ATLANTA - Georgia became what is believed to be the first state to offer government-sanctioned elective classes on the Bible, with Gov. Sonny Perdue signing a bill into law Thursday.

The governor also signed a bill permitting the display of the Ten Commandments at courthouses, an issue that has raised thorny constitutional questions.

Critics say the measures blur the line between church and state.

Who prosecuted the Scopes trial?

I'm not worried about the Georgia law, it'll get shot down by the courts.
