intellimouse single click = double click

Hello I have a problem with my microsoft intellimouse optical. Sometime when I click ounce it is interpreted as a double click. Like if windows is catching click down and click up

Is there anybody that has that kind of problem and have found a solution

I had the same thing happen with my Intellimouse Optical. It happened maybe 1 out of every 10 or 20 clicks. This problem was happening for about 2 weeks, then it stopped happening about a month ago and I haven't had any problems since.

I'm guessing it's a sticky contact or spring. Could be dust in there. You may want to take the buttons off and clean it out, although I didn't need to.

If it keeps happening, call MS and they should send you a new one.

I thougth it was more a software bug that hardware, but you might be rigth I will brutalize my mouse and se if it get better

I don't know if yours is the same problem as mine. You said it only happens sometimes, so I wouldn't think it was a software problem. But who knows.

I could tell mine was hardware, because I could get it to happen by the way I clicked. If I pressed down the button really slowly, I could get always get the double-click to happen. It seemed like there wasn't a clean contact. Like when the button got down to where it was just about to make contact inside the mouse, it would contact then uncontact then contact again. It's hard to explain clearly. If I just held the button down halfway and moved it up and down a tiny bit, I could get it to register a whole bunch of clicks without ever actually clicking all the way down.

Like I said, I don't know if your problem is the same. But the symptoms sounded like mine.

Mine used to do that occasionally too, it died about 3 weeks ago, got a new one replaced for free by MS, works fine. I think its a problem with the mouse itself, as Ive seen a few people with this problem and its usually intermitent.

I had the same thing happen after about 2 years with my first Intellimouse Explorer. I called Microsoft, and they sent me a free replacement that got there within 2 days. They didn't even make me send the double-clicking one back...I really have to hand it to the MS support on that one, I was impressed!
